Correspondence, clippings, biographical sketches, photographs, artifacts, and other items relating to the family of St. George Tucker Brooke (1844-1914), a professor at West Virginia University College of Law, 1878-1909. Correspondence includes business and personal letters to and from St. George Tucker Brooke and Charles Frederick Tucker Brooke, a Rhodes Scholar and Shakespearean authority at Yale; letters between Francis (Frank) Brooke to Mrs. Mary Brooke while he served in the U.S. and France during World War I (1918-1919); and letters from James Harold in Ireland to his son James in New York (ca. 1870). Other items include a surveyor's call book for Tucker County (1856-1857), which includes notes on the Tucker-Randolph County boundary; "A Narrative of My Life: for My Family," 1763-1849 by Judge Francis T. Brooke; a manuscript recipe book (1814); and microfilmed copy of typescript "Autobiography of St. George Tucker Brooke, Written for His Children" (reel 3). Records from the office of architect Alexander Mahood (1888-1970) of Bluefield, West Virginia. Includes correspondence, specifications, and architectural drawings for West Virginia University building projects, such as the Creative Arts Center, Parkersburg Center, and the Towers residence halls, among others.

Records of the West Virginia Business College of Fairmont, West Virginia, from the 1930s to the 1960s. A private commercial school established in 1893, the West Virgina Business College offered secretarial, accounting, and business administration courses during the 1940s and 1950s. Records chiefly contain student files, adminstrative subject files, financial materials, and publicity materials. Student files are loosely arranged in alphabetical order and relate primarily to veterans attending the college on the G.I. Bill. Their records include letters of eligibility, course invoices, and certificates of training. Subject files relate to administrative matters such as supplies, teacher applications, and advertising, and to other vocational or business schools and national associations. Financial materials chiefly include tax information from the 1940s to 1960s.

The collection contains project files and drawings related to more than 1,500 residences, churches, businesses, schools, and community buildings, predominantly in the Roanoke and Southwest Virginia area, designed by Smithey & Boynton, mostly between 1935 and 1957.

The Harry Downing Temple, Jr., Papers contains materials related to Temple's personal life, interest in heraldry and insignia, and his research and publications on the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. Materials date from about 1872 to 2004.

The Furious Flower Poetry Center Records, consisting of 17.6 cubic feet (43 boxes, 1 rolled storage container), document the departmental activities of the Furious Flower Poetry Center.

The George Washington National Forest Oral History Collection, 1994, is comprised of audio recordings and transcripts documenting interviews conducted by a JMU student intern with Jacob Kagey and Earnest Dickerman, employees of George Washington National Forest National Park, on the topics of botanical and wilderness history.
