This series contains materials collected or created by Bonnie Brown during her time as an activist and politician in West Virginia between 1974 and 2022. Prevalent topics include the International Women's Year and conferences focused on women's rights in West Virginia. There is also material from her time in the Women's Repertory Theatre beginning in 1978. Materials mostly consist of brochures, digital files, newspaper clippings, mailers, pamphlets, photographs, resumes, and transcripts.

This series includes correspondence, reports, legal files, research papers, publications, and other material regarding occupational and mining safety, United States occupational and mining rules and regulations, American and international occupational and mining accidents, black lung and white lung diseases, project proposals and fundraising, international mining safety and trips (including those to South Africa and Europe), health and safety manuals, labor unions, and other such topics.

This series consists of photographs of awards given to Coach Nehlen, photos from the 1988 Walter Camp Awards, and Coach Nehlen's 2001 Tribute party among others.

This series includes John Russo's written works that have been published into printed media or have yet to be published. The two types of materials found within this series include typescripts for unpublished novels, as well as published novels and comics. Most materials are autographed by John Russo. A notable item included in this series is John Russo's first novel typescript that he wrote while attending West Virginia University in 1961, Beer and Apathy.

Includes drafts of Thurston's published work, mainly typescripts with some galley proofs. This material frequently includes handwritten notes from Thurston or her editors. Correspondence related to the publication and editing process is also present. This series also includes unpublished writings by Thurston.

This series includes speeches, notes, papers, reports, and correspondence by Hardesty from before and after his West Virginia University Presidency; they document his legal and political careers.
