Studies of West Virginia Structures, 1940/2009 Box 321

Kemp and the IHTIA researched historic bridges and preserved the High Gate Carriage House property in Fairmont, West Virginia and a B&O Railroad bridge in Littleton, West Virginia. He also collaborated with Barb Howe on the preservation of Bulltown Historic Area in Braxton County, West Virginia as part of a contract for the USACE. The box includes photographic prints, photographic negatives, articles, lists, reports, and handwritten notes. The box also includes facsimiles of the following: engineering drawings and reports. Subjects include historic bridges, industries and structures in West Virginia. Highlights include a compilation of Kemp's articles on bridges entitled "Historic Bridge Articles Volume 1."

Subjects, 1954/2007

Includes newsletters, brochures, handwritten notes, and personal files of WVU Sports Information Director Edgar "Eddie" Barrett and WVU Athletic Director Robert "Red" Brown on the West Virginia Centennial Celebration, 1962-1963. Also includes commemorative patches of the state centennial celebration (Box 20, Folder 2) and correspondence with various people and businesses in Charleston and elsewhere about the celebration (Box 20). Papers also include a photograph and programs of the Swedish National Gymnastics Team performance at West Virginia University in 1955 (Box 20, Folder 4). Other papers include publications, photographs, biographical information, and other materials relating to former WVU and NBA basketball star Jerry West. Some highlights include an autographed 1965 edition of Sports Illustrated (Box 21, Folder 5), and photographs of the Jerry West Boulevard dedication ceremony in Morgantown (Box 21, Folder 4).
