Collections

The collection of James Gleason represents all aspects of events and activities at the College of William and Mary for the years 1983-2006. Events documented include: Charter Day, commencement, buildings, awards, faculty and staff, students, and athletics. Physically the collection is organized by the "rolls of film taken" and into years they were taken. They are stored and protected in plastic sheets in notebooks and numbered for identification.

This collection includes Class Histories, class directories, issues of the Colonial Re-Echo, and fliers for students running for class office.

This collection consists of permanent and historically significant institutional records created by the University of Virginia Health Sciences Library and the antecedent Medical Library. These records include, but are not limited to: annual reports, planning documents, newsletters, online exhibits, blogs, social media content, conference programs, department histories, committee records, and library-sponsored lecture materials.

The Claude Moore papers include letters from Moore to his mother, Mrs. Claude E. Moore, also known as Maggie, various holiday cards to his mother, letters to and from other friends and family members, several checks, and announcements. Also included in the collection are two scrapbooks with numerous pictures of Claude Moore; his orders from World War I; newspaper clippings and brochures; his siblings, parents and grandparents; friends; and trips overseas as well as in the United States . Certificates and diplomas include those from high school, college, and medical school.

The papers of Claudia Stevens, musician, actor, performance artist, playwright, and composer, are arranged by musical theatre works in her repertoire except for Subseries 2 of Series 1, which is arranged separately and part of which was formerly known as the Carter-Sessions Papers.

Prints, correspondence, research notes, and graphic design projects of Clifford A. Harvey, professor of art and founder of the graphic design program at West Virginia University. The majority of the material pertains to Harvey's involvement with the GramLee Collection of Early American Commercial Wood Engravings made up of wood blocks originally used by the S. George Company of Wellsburg, W. Va., and the book that he published as a result of his research titled "Before Rosebud Was a Sled." Other material is connected to Permutation Press, a private printing press operated by Harvey. A substantial number of exemplars of Harvey's professional work can be found in boxes 10-12.

This collection includes material related to the Coalition of Black Faculty and Administrators (CBFA), a faculty organization at Old Dominion University. The objective of the organization is to promote the recruitment and retention, promotion and tenure, and greater involvement of African American faculty and administrators in college life. The coalition also works to provide networking opportunities and a forum for African American issues. Included in the collection are minutes and agendas, correspondence, both personal and professional, and financial reports of the organization. Newspaper clippings related to African American issues, reports on the progress of equal opportunity and affirmative action at Old Dominion University, elections for association officers, and newsletters produced by the CBFA are also present.

The Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory records include meeting minutes, treasurer and annual reports, notes, newsletters, and a 50th anniversary booklet for the Kiptopeke Songbird Banding Station.
