Collections

This collection includes photographs, printed materials, artifacts, scrapbooks, film, and correspondence created and/or acquired by Camp Okahahwis, former campers, and the Camp Okahahwis Scholarship Fund. Subjects include campers, counselors, buildings, traditions, everyday camp activities, and reunions. Four of the photos in the collection are of particular note because they highlight several African American women who served on the kitchen staff. Also significant is a booklet titled "As We Were," created by two former campers. It details the history of the camp by each decade along with important figures.

This collection contains administrative records, sheet music, publications, and the book The Holy Communion: Together with the Collects, Epistles, and Gospels and Prayers and Thanksgivings with additional Prayers from The Book of Common Prayer. The front cover is inscribed "Presented by the Episcopal Students of The College of William and Mary, 1954-1955." The book was meant to be used as the altar service book for the Wren Chapel.

This collection contains materials created by the Capital Area Agency on Aging that document the agency's operations, programs, and outreach activities. The majority of the collection consists of correspondence, minutes, and other documents generated by the agency's committees. Also included are records concerning various service programs as well as reference materials.

Records of the Capital Club of Williamsburg (formerly named the Middle Plantation Club of Williamsburg), which was founded by Rawls Byrd in 1966. The collection includes organizational histories, membership directories and rosters, meeting minutes, scrapbooks of club events, and other material.

This collection includes fliers, reports, newsletters, manuals, and other material from the Career Center at the College of William and Mary. Records from the Placement Bureau, Office of Career Planning, Office of Career Services, and the Office of Corporate Relations and Placement are also included in the collection.

The collection contains materials related to Dr. Carl A. Fehr's career as a music professor as well as his direction of William and Mary's choral program, The Common Glory, the Founders summer pageants and the Williamsburg Baptist Church choir. In addition to his reflections on choral direction and discipline, the collection includes extensive materials on Dr. Fehr's professional management of the College's choral program, a series of published choral programs, a collection of choral music, his teaching notes and curricula, correspondence, professional awards and memberships, as well as his dissertation and other academic credentials. The choral program is also extensively represented in Choir and Chorus communications, activities, group photographs, scrapbooks and publicity during the years of Dr. Fehr's directorship. In addition to the regular academic year choral program, the Choir's annual spring tours, special guest appearances and national broadcast performances are documented in correspondence, news clippings, photographs, scrapbooks, and audio recordings. The audio recordings were reformatted from their original reel-to-reel audiotape and LP formats and CDs are available for purchase. Papers of Carl Archacki, a Richmond activist for equal rights and an advocate for gay and lesbian support groups, principally consists of clippings, memorandums, photographs, and leaflets concerning Archacki's work as a member of the Sexual Minorities Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, Dignity / Integrity, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Richmond Pride Coalition.

This collection consists of correspondence, clippings, presentations, publications, photographs, speeches and other related materials. The items span Emswiller's 38 year career in pharmacy. There is a great deal of personal correspondence written to Emswiller by his colleagues and friends upon receipt of his many awards. The materials in the collection also provide insight into the evolvement of office-based, patient-centered pharmacy practices. This was a very innovative approach which spanned the transition from the traditional pharmacy of the early 20th century to the pharmacy model of the early 21st century.

Genealogy traced back to Elmer Ellsworth Carlin (died August 1, 1909) and his wife Katherine Emmaline Porter (died July 22, 1902). Contains photographs of Katherine, Elmer, and Elmer's father, John Carlin, as well as photographs of their headstones. John Carlin was a leader of the West Virginia Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). Also contains three pages of genealogical information pertaining to Elmer, Katherine, and Elmer's parents, John Carlin and Anna Dean Lyeth. There is also a letter that Katherine Carlin sent to her father, Daniel Porter, from Wheeling, West Virginia (28 November 1886); it describes the health of her family and a labor strike happening at the time.
