Collections

Virginia Folklore Society records (1913-1967; 22.7 cubic feet) consist chiefly of songs collected by the society's fieldworkers in the 1930s under the direction of society archivist Arthur Kyle Davis. Sheet music, folklore, newsletters and photographs are also included, as are recordings of many of the songs.

The Virginia Hispanic Chamber and Foundation (VAHCC) records include Spanish language and Latino audience local or regional publications, such as magazines and newspapers; pamhplets and brochures on family emergency preparedness, worker rights and job seeker resources, local services provided in Spanish, and more; information and resources on adult continuing education, employment (includes items from Virginia Employment Commission and correspondence and job postings shared with VAHCC to distrbute throughout the community), and healthcare; printouts of VAHCC PowerPoint sides; cultural education for teachers, and a social events calendar for 2006.

Records of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). Includes records from the Office of the Dean and Director; Faculty Assembly and related committees; capital outlay, budgets and other fiscal records; and a variety of published material.

The office files of the Virginia Law Review were routinely transferred to the archives between 1978 and 1985. The records consist primarily of administrative correspondence and other materials from the office of the editor-in-chief, and correspondence with writers of articles. There is also some documentation related to the organization and function of law student organizations.

This collection consists of print and digital copies of the Virginia Law Weekly. The periodical, managed by University of Virginia Law students, features news articles, opinion columns, humor articles, photographs, advertisements, and other content. It documents life at the School of Law, as well as student perspectives of the law and the broader world around them.

This collection consists of the Virginia Law Weekly's organizational records including founding documents, correspondence, and digital media. It also contains photographic prints, negatives, and contact sheets used in the production of the Virginia Law Weekly.

The records of the Virginia Law Women at the University of Virginia School of Law consist of correspondence and administrative papers of the organization. There are drafts and galleys of the "Virginia Law Women Handbook, Your Legal Rights as a Women"; memoranda, reports, announcements, posters, and newspaper clippings.

The Virgina League for Nursing (VLN) records are comprised of materials documenting the management of the VLN. The materials offer insight into the logistical and financial operations of the VLN, as well as annual records and statistics of how the organization changed over the years of its operation. While the VLN and its predecessor organizations have existed since 1917, the contents of this collection comprise primarily of material dating from 1966-2000. Additional material from outlying years exists within the collection, but are not significant enough in volume to fully represent of the VLN's actions during that time. Additional material such as membership lists, board meeting minutes, and financial records from the VLN and its predecessors for the years 1919-1942 can be found in the Virginia Nurses Association records (1986-05-05).

Virginia Music Teachers Association records (1940-2018; 11 cubic feet) contain financial papers, agendas, contests, correspondence, minutes, newsletters, chapter reports and officer's reports totaling 11 cubic feet. There are also music performances and software programs on compact discs, floppy disk and audiocassette. Some areas of the collection are missing years from 1980 to 1990. The records are created by musicians and teachers in Virginia whose shared vision is furthering the art of music and promoting the growth and professional development of its members. It provides programs that encourage and support teaching, performance, composition, research, and students. Some of the Virginia chapters include Roanoke, Shenandoah, Piedmont, Richmond, Tidewater, Peninsula, Lynchburg, Charlottesville, Northern Virginia, Highlands, and many state and private colleges.
