Photographs, postcards, engravings, sketches, art tools, correspondence, pamphlets, recipes and newspaper clippings belonging to Blanche Lazzell, a West Virginia born leading American artist of the inter-war years. The collection reflects her development as an artist from her student days at West Virginia University to the end of the Korean War. Addenda include correspondence, genealogy, published material, photos, prints, drawings, news clippings, and mementos of Blanche Lazzell. Addenda topics include Lazzell family history, Blanche's art and artistic influences, and the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Main topics include West Virginia University-related material, including Bond's involvement in Phi Sigma Kappa; genealogy on several early West Virginia families, including Bond, Dent, Core, McWhorter, Romine, Hiner, Scott, Maxson, and Cutright; materials relating to several West Virginia-specific projects, including the Hacker's Creek Descendants, the Henry McWhorter cabin at Jackson's Mill, and others; World War II memorabilia, including letters home from New Guinea and photographs; Morgantown history, particularly from ca. 1914-1970, including Morgantown High School (both 1914-1918 and 1934-1938) and plays produced at the high school in the late 1930s. Dr. Barbara Howe worked at West Virginia University in a variety of different positions between 1980 and her retirement in 2009, including as associate professor of history, head of the public history program, and director of the Center for Women's Studies. Prevalent subjects present in the collection include historical preservation, environmental activism, and politics in the Morgantown and broader West Virginia area.

Papers of Ernest J. Nesius, former faculty and administrator of West Virginia University (WVU), documenting his professional activities involving agriculture and economics, his membership on a variety of committees, and his interest in 4-H and extension services.

Three items concerning the Mascioli family of Morgantown, including a newspaper clipping, scarf, and stationary card. The newspaper clipping (no date, no newspaper title) contains an article titled 'Open House Slated for Mrs. Mascioli: She'll Observe 75th Birthday at Snake Hill Family Homestead.' Mrs. Antoinetta Mascioli is portrayed as 'one of Morgantown area's most successful business women' and as a 'pioneer in modern real estate developments.' The Mascioli family managed four businesses in the Morgantown area. The article also names her children, briefly tells her life history, and records her reminiscences of her personal and business life. The scarf is 35' x 35', in blue silk, with Italian phrases and 'Mussolini' printed in white. A stationery card from Mrs. MacCurrach to Gloria Cunningham states that the scarf was purchased by MacCurrach and her mother, Antoinetta Mascioli, on their 1937-38 summer trip through Europe. In the card MacCurrach comments that the two stayed mainly near Rome, and that 'The Facist were [sic] in full bloom - around Rome.

Papers of Hu Maxwell (1860-1927), historian, editor, and author of several county histories of West Virginia, along with papers and records of other family members. There are manuscripts of fiction, verse, and local history written by Maxwell, as well as a number of his manuscripts and publications dealing with forestry which were prepared while he was a member of the Forest Service of the United States Department of Agriculture. Maxwell kept a diary during the years 1901-1919 while residing in Morgantown, Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, D.C., which is extensive for the period of World War I and which contains notes on the diary of Rufus Maxwell (1855-1907).
