This collection contains the records of the Blacksburg, Virginia, Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). This collection contains newsletters created by the Blacksburg Chapter, membership rosters, historical notes, secretary's minutes, and a manuscript containing the history of the chapter. The Blacksburg Chapter was first organized in 1976 and within a year became a chartered member of the AARP.

The collection contains manuscript materials, notes, and correspondence related to Anne Price Yates' research on the Price family after the publication of her book, Increase in Prices.

The records largely document the recent history of Smithfield Plantation, ancestral home of the Preston family, focusing particularly on its restoration beginning in 1962. While much of the renovation occurred in the 1960s, many of the records detail other renovation projects done in the 1970s and 1980s. The collection also includes historical and other related documents dating from before the original Preston family's residence at Smithfield.

The Beulah O. Allen Collection contains a variety of materials from Allen's life. Her papers contain correspondence with a variety of friends and associates, primarily Lucy Lee Lancaster, the first female graduate from Virginia Tech. In addition, the collection also contains Virginia Tech Commencement programs, Cotillion Club Dance programs, resources related to the Virginia Tech Library, newspaper clippings about the construction of the new Newman Library, and a large collection of photographs about the Town of Blacksburg and her friends and family.

The collection consists of records from the Blacksburg Baptist Church, currently known as Church on Main in Blacksburg. The boxes contain materials related to financial records, minutes, church history, scrapbooks, photographs, ledger books, cassette tapes, correspondence, and more. The collection is organized based on organizations and types of records. This includes the Baptist Young People's Union, Church Building Committee, Church Bulletins, Correspondences, Financials, Leadership, Manuscripts, Membership, Photographs, Women's Missionary Society, and Women's Missionary Union. There are also printed out copies of microfilm pages which have been sorted into the "microfilm copies" and "permanent file copies." Many of the documents in these two series are duplicates of the original materials found in the other series. Some of the materials in the microfilm and permanent file copies are not found in the originals.

This collection relates to the Blacksburg Historic District and documents efforts by Blacksburg residents and the Draper-Preston Neighborhood Association to register their homes as historic landmarks in 1987-1989.

This collection contains records from the Blacksburg Lions Club, primarily including documents related to their eye-sight charity from 1962 through 1989. Additional items includes a mailing list, list of members, buget information, and a list of club officers. The Blacksburg Breakfast Lions Club was founded and chartered in 1973 in the Blacksburg, Virignia area and prior to that the group operated under the name Blacksburg Lions Club.

Oral history project conducted by the University Libraries at Virginia Tech with residents of Blacksburg about the town's history. Collection consists of recorded interviews with eight citizens of in Blacksburg, Virginia. Transcripts for five of these interviews are currently available.

The Blacksburg Study Group was funded by the Blacksburg Town Council under the aegis of the Townscape Committee to study the town's architecture and landscape, to inform town officials about present conditions, and to make recommendations for changes. The collection documents the group's activities and include architectural drawings, maps, diagrams, and photographs used in the book, Blacksburg - Understanding a Virginia Town: Town Architecture (1986) by Donna Dunay.

The collection consists of scrapbooks, journals, V.P.I. reunion materials, photograph albums, family diplomas, and the diary of Nannie V. Sibold. As a whole, the collection dates from 1912 to 1990. However, Carrie T. Sibold's scrapbook journals, which run from 1974 to 1990, constitute the the bulk of the collection material.
