Ancient Coins, 1956/1993

This collection includes ancient coins from the Roman and Greek empires (500 B.C.-600 A.D.). Some of the coins were purchased in Greece between 1956-1957, others were found during an excavation in Kavala, Greece (dates unknown). For each coin, there is a corresponding envelope with handwritten notes; additionally, the majority of the coins have an informational foam core for a potential display. There is also a substantial amount of documentation relating to the discovery and acquisition of the coins prior to their arrival at Hampden-Sydney.

The 15th folder contains documentation relating to the discovery and acquisition of each coin prior to their arrival at Hampden-Sydney.
