The AAUW is a national organization that promotes education and equity for all women and girls. The Norfolk Branch began as a college club in 1902, then joined the AAUW in 1921. The collection spans the years 1902 to 1999 and includes meeting minutes, annual reports, publications, information about branch activities and scrapbooks.

The collection includes Hahn's early correspondence as society president, records of advocacy with the National Park Service, flyers advertising canal publications, brochures for different canals, and documents relating to canal research as well as selected news clippings. A few whole and partial issues of the newsletter "Along the Towpath" are also included. There is also some graphical material depicting canals, canal boats, and structures, primarily in the form of prints.

There is case material for the ACLU of Virginia; project files for long-term concerns such as the rights of women, the mentally handicapped; prisoners and migrant farmworkers.

Minutes, proceedings, circulars, agreements, constitutions, bylaws, correspondence, and reports of the local union which worked in the stemware and punch tumbler department of Fostoria Glass Company. Addendum of 2013/02/25 includes materials collected by Paul W. Myers (1927-2008), former employee of Fostoria Glass Company and former American Flint Glass Workers Union Representative of Local #10. Includes correspondence, business records, photographs, printed material, ephemera, clippings, an artifact, and a cassette tape. Addendum materials pertain to Fostoria Glass Company and American Flint Glass Workers Union, mostly Local Union #10 but also #507, of Moundsville. Some of the material in the addendum was used by Dr. Kenneth Fones-Wolf in researching his book, Glass Towns. For a collection of his research papers, please see A&M 5170. Of interest would be the strike threats and agreements in the late 1950s.

The ALAV Collection contains personal and official correspondence, financial and legal papers, minute books, organizational and scientific reports, educational publicity, photographs, and artifacts. The ALAV Collection contains exhaustive information on the administrative concerns, educational and fund-raising activities, local level activities and regional offices, and the day-to-day operations of Virginia's key agent in the control and prevention of respiratory diseases. The materials in the ALAV Collection document the growth of the organization, as well as the input of a number of notable Virginians, from the early decades of the twentieth century. The ALAV Collection contains materials of use to researchers interested in medical history, epidemiology, respiratory diseases, and the growth of state and national organizations dedicated to public health.

The American Political Items Collectors Collection (APIC) contains donations of scholarly material that relates to national political campaigns as well as American history dating from 1895 to 1988. This collection is comprised of presidential campaigning materials that stem from bumper stickers to voting ballots. Not only is it an extensive collection of presidential campaigns but it also houses historical magazines, newspapers, and many other manuscripts and books.
