Records of Seneca Glass (1891-1983) of Morgantown, West Virginia, and of Houze Glass (ca. 1920-2005) of Pt. Marion, Pennsylvania, collected by Dave Weimer a former employee of both companies. Members of the Weimer family were employed by Seneca Glass. Materials include employee records, pattern records, chemist correspondence, catalogs, and advertising, among other material. This collection is minimally processed.

Abstract Or Scope

Catalogs, reports, contracts, correspondence, blueprints, drawings, certificates, deeds, and photographs of Seneca Glass Company, a Morgantown glass manufacturer noted for its production of handmade lead crystal glassware. The materials of this collection give insight into some of the daily activities of the company and its union such as determination of wages, settling of labor grievances, plans for expansion and modernization, productivity statistics, and stock inventories. Specifically noteworthy are the earliest certificate of incorporation in West Virginia, original construction blueprints by Elmer F. Jacobs, and early catalogs of the company's product line. There are also extensive addenda of Seneca Glass records that were acquired in 2005, 2019, and 2021; a contents list for the 2005 addendum can be found in the control folder onsite.

Collection of Thomas E. Goff of Morgantown relating to his fly tying, archery, and sports equipment business. Includes two bamboo fly rods, fly tying equipment and supplies, flys, two creels, three bows, leather finger tips and arm guards, a quiver, and arrows. Also includes 103 issues of a Goffs/Goughs family genealogical newsletter (1983-2003), and 6 issues of a Van Schaick family genealogical newsletter (2000-2005). There are photographs of Thomas E. Goff and family and friends from ca. 1930-1980, including fishing and camping scenes (most are sepia-toned). There is also a photograph and biographical information regarding Thomas M. Goff who served in the Confederate Army in the 19th Virginia Cavalry during the Civil War. There are addenda regarding Carol Goff Janowitz and also the Goff family.
