County court records consisting primarily of records of court proceedings including dockets, executions, orders, and fees as well as case papers and public records consisting primarily of land and property records including deeds, land, and personal property books. There are also some records of private businesses, private organizations, Sheriff's records, and voting records. This collection consists of three series and an addendum.

The addition to the Hardy Cross Dillard Papers (six linear feet in 12 boxes) contains the bulk of the records documenting his nine years on the International Court of Justice. Included are files on the cases brought to the ICJ from 1970 to 1979, as well as extensive records concerning the Beagle Channel Case heard by a Court of Arbitration on which Dillard served from 1971 to 1977. The files for each ICJ case contain memoranda and notes in addition to assorted annotated documents for most of them. Dillard was chairman of the ICJ Rules Revision Committee in the mid-70's, and that work is documented. Finally, there are miscellaneous ICJ documents, general memoranda, and correspondence. The correspondence (20 folders) here, as in the earlier gift, contains letters from personal as well as professional acquaintances; some frequent correspondents included Eduardo Jimenez de Arechaga, Richard Baxter, Gerald Fitzmaurice and Phillip Jessup. Judge Dillard did much of his thinking on paper in memoranda to himself and to his colleagues on the Court. Consequently, there is substantial commentary on arguments of cases, as well as formulation of positions he felt the Court should take. The Beagle Channel Case is the most thoroughly documented, filling almost four boxes.

This collection includes Richard Bonnie's professional, legal, and research papers, covering the years from approximately 1969 through 2016.

The Addison H. Smith papers (1917-1970; 1.6 cubic feet) includes many letters between 1917 and 1919 to Addison Smith's mother and his battlefield diary from 1918, which describes in vivid detail the voyage to Europe and his work as an ambulance driver in France. It also includes his certificates of discharge and service in the United States Army Ambulance Service, photographs, postcards, and newspaper clippings. The majority of the collection dates between the years of 1917 to 1922, and there are also newspaper clippings and legislation letters from the 1970s.

This collection of Frank Gardiner Wisner papers (1909-1997; 10.5 cubic feet) consists of business and personal papers of Frank Gardiner Wisner, who was a Director in the Central Intelligence Agency in the 1950's. Included is an autographed letter signed by John Edgar Hoover and a photocopy of a letter signed by Harry S. Truman.

Series III of the William Faulkner Collection contains the personal papers, files, belongings, and related realia of William Faulkner. Materials in the collection range in date from 1824 to 2003 and are divided into eight subseries: William Faulkner's working papers related to his literary works, drawings made by Faulkner, his childhood ephemera and student records, military and flight records, family papers, honors and awards, belongings and related realia, and reminiscences or accounts of William Faulkner.

The Carter Glass papers, 1820-1946, 141 cubic feet, consist of correspondence, manuscripts, newspaper articles, photographs, speeches, and printed materials from his work in the Banking and Currency Committee, the Secretary of the Treasury (1918-1920), and the United States Senate (1920-1946). Subjects include: The Federal Reserve Banking Act of 1913, the Federal Reserve system, and the Banking Act of 1933 (1932 Glass-Steagall Act).

Papers of the William George and Gladys Bennett Guy family of Williamsburg, Virginia with additions from Joan Eastman Bennett. Includes correspondence, invitations, minutes, clippings, oral histories, notebooks, reports, photographs, written memories, essays and printed materials. Papers include items about water and gas, Williamsburg Landing, American Red Cross, Williamsburg United Service Organization, Williamsburg Female Academy, College of William and Mary and zoning regulations. Includes ephemera of Williamsburg, Virginia and personal material and correspondence of the Bennett Family and Guy Family of Williamsburg, Virginia. The original accession was received in 1985 with additions added through 2011.

The collection contains correspondence . Correspondence includes letters primarily from 1908-1919, from Nelson Page and his wife Florence Lathrop Field Page to her daughters Minna Field Gibson Burnaby, Florence Field Lindsay, Bryan Lathrop and Helen Aldis Lathrop. The letters concern social life in Washington, D.C., life in Rome during World War I, diplomacy under Woodrow Wilson, and the role of a diplomat's wife. There are forty letters, 1915-1916, from Algernon Edwin Burnaby to his wife and son concerning the Gallipoli Campaign in Turkey. Individuals mentioned in the collection include Sir George Trevelyan and the Prince of Wales (who was later the Duke of Windsor). Subjects include earthquake in Avezzano, Italy, Paris Peace Conference (1919-1920), the influenza epidemic of 1918 and war relief efforts of the Red Cross.
