Lapham to her sister, Amelia H. Scorah. Includes three manuscript diaries, 1862-1863, which were written while Wilson was serving in the 12th Virginia Cavalry. Also includes reviews of books about Wilson, correspondence about Wilson by his biographers and descendants, genealogy information on Wilson's mother, and eight photocopied letters from Wilson to Waitman Barbe dated 1891-1899.Other correspondents include Edward Atkinson, William Campbell Preston Breckinridge, James B. Fee book, 1800-1818, of William Mann, Marshall [U. S. District Court] of Virginia, listing fees for serving legal papers. The volumes also includes account, 1814-1815, with laborers, a list, 1821, of bonds due to Mann, and notes, 1877, concerning the Gresham family.

This collection contains documents pertaining to fire insurance purchased by the W&M faculty and administrators for the school. It includes policies and receipts.

The William Massie papers includes letters and accounts belonging to William Massie, a farmer, miller and plantation owner. Massie lived in Pharsalia and Tye River Mills, Nelson County, Virginia. Letters include correspondence between Nathaniel Francis Cabell and Chiswell Dabney. Letters discuss life in Nelson County, agriculture, slavery, milling, and other subjects.

This collection contains correspondence, sermons, personal notes, and photos of Dr. William McCutchan Morrison. The majority of the letters were written by Morrison to his mother, Mary A. Morrison. A number of letters were written by him to his siblings. Miscellaneous family papers are included as well, such as a letter by an unidentified Liberty Hall Volunteer. The correspondence is largely about his dealings and life in Congo, primarily regarding his missionary work. The included photos are of life in Congo during the missionary work of Morrison. Researchers should be advised that the collection includes images of the Congolese people which bear witness to the physical brutality they suffered under the regime of King Leopold II of Belgium. The sermons are Dr. Morrison's theological teachings. Some sermons were written in what Morrison described as the "native" language.

This collection contains items of Judge William McLaughlin, including letters from Henry D. Campbell and William L. Wilson. Many concern awarding of honorary degrees and elections to the Board of Trustees of Washington and Lee, of which McLaughlin was rector (1888-1898). The collection also contains legal certificates and his papers, including his Confederate Army Commission dated October 7, 1862. Also included is a copy of his death from the minutes of the Board of Trustees of Washington and Lee University, June 13, 1899.

The William M. Jerdone papers (26 items) consist of Jerdone's handwritten mathematics examination essay (64 pages) submitted to Professor James W. Massie on December 28, 1868. The topic of this essay is "Analysis of Analytical Geometry." The papers also include 25 drawings completed as class assignments at VMI.
