Statistical journals, conference journals and reports, conference register, records of various missionary bodies, and financial records. There are session minutes, lists of membership, baptisms, church property, committees, and Sunday school statistics. The collection also includes the journals and reports of the Western Virginia Conference, Methodist Protestant Church, 1855-1896.

An address delivered to the Faculty club of West Liberty State Teacher's College, 1936 by the Rev. J. A. Earl; discusses the settlers, early history, schools, and churches in the area; and includes a bibliography of sources. Bound in the pamphlet is a letter from Rev. Earl to Mrs. Eleanor Knutti of West Virginia University Library.

West Virginia Adjutant General burial and cemetery records including cemetery maps. The records consists of forms containing name; residence at death (city, county, state); cemetery name and location including town and county; date of burial; type of grave marker; information on grave marker including additional identification; date and place of birth; date, place, and cause of death; next of kin and their address; dates enlisted and discharged; serial number; rank; race; service branch; war of service; and a summary of their war record. Most records are of those who served in the Civil War or World War I. There are very few records of those who served in other wars. There are also cemetery maps with cemetery name and county which include name listings of those veterans interred and plot location sketch diagrams.

A census for agriculture and manufacturers conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau for the counties now a part of West Virginia. The two earlier census contain no surveys of manufacturing (see related materials note in this record). The two later schedules contain one reel for each survey on manufacturing. The 1880 census contains twice the number of reels of the 1870 census. Each type of survey has a printed form questionnaire. For agriculture, enumerations are requested for land acreage, type of livestock and dairy products, types of crops, particularly grains and forage, and cash value of the farm. The manufacturing index form gives the name of company, type of service or product, type of power source, types of machinery, types of materials utilized, labor age and wage statistics and quantity of production performed.

A collection of biographical sketches written by West Virginia Representatives and Senators for inclusion in the 1859 and 1869 editions of Charles Lanman's "Dictionary of the United States Congress", as well as correspondence and photographs. Congressmen represented in this collection include William Armstrong, Jacob Blair, Arthur I. Boreman, Alexander Boteler, William Gay Brown, John S. Carlile, Sherrard Clemens, Isaac Duval, C.D. Hubbard, A. G. Jenkins, Zedekiah Kidwell, B.M. Kitchen, George R. Latham, Isaac Leffler, James McGrew, William S. Morgan, Daniel H. Polsley, James Stephenson, George William Summers, Peter Van Winkle, Kellian Whaley, John S. Witcher, Waitman T. Willey, Edgar C. Wilson, Henry Wise, and John S. Witcher. This collection contains photographs of Hubbard, Kidwell, Whaley, and Charles James Faulkner. Also includes a photocopy of the Foreword to the 1971 edition of "The Biographical Dictionary of the American Congress".

Copies of broadsides, certificates, photographs, and letters pertaining to the formation of the state of West Virginia, its predecessor the Restored Government of Virginia, and the Civil War, featuring the impact of the latter upon Wheeling. There are 41 letters written to civilian prisoner-of-war Dr. Alfred Hughes by his wife and other relatives when he was interned at Camp Chase, Columbus, Ohio in 1862. An artificial collection composed of portraits in the West Virginia University Libraries and West Virginia and Regional History Center of historical West Virginia subjects dating from approximately the mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth centuries. Includes portraits of political and military figures, and West Virginia University presidents.

The record of the appointment of postmasters in the following WV counties: Randolph, Ritchie, Roane, Summers, Taylor, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, Wayne, Webster, Wetzel, Wirt, Wood and Wyoming. The record shows the dates of establishment and discontinuance of post offices, their changes of name, and the names of and the appointment dates of their postmasters. Beginning in 1870, it shows the names of post offices to which mail from discontinued offices was sent. The record also shows the dates of Presidential appointments of postmasters and the dates of their confirmation by the Senate, usually the dates that post offices were authorized to issue money orders, and occasionally the dates on which the locations of offices were changed.
