Earl; discusses the settlers, early history, schools, and churches in the area; and includes a bibliography of sources. Bound in the pamphlet is a letter from Rev. Earl to Mrs. Eleanor Knutti of West Virginia University Library.

West Virginia Adjutant General burial and cemetery records including cemetery maps. The records consists of forms containing name; residence at death (city, county, state); cemetery name and location including town and county; date of burial; type of grave marker; information on grave marker including additional identification; date and place of birth; date, place, and cause of death; next of kin and their address; dates enlisted and discharged; serial number; rank; race; service branch; war of service; and a summary of their war record. Most records are of those who served in the Civil War or World War I. There are very few records of those who served in other wars. There are also cemetery maps with cemetery name and county which include name listings of those veterans interred and plot location sketch diagrams.

West Virginia Glass, 1819/1991 Box 250

Kemp worked with Barb Howe to establish a directory of sites pertinent to the glass industry in West Virginia as part of a book project documenting industrial archaeology in West Virginia. He also consulted on Howe's early drafts of a manuscript, "The Glass Industry in West Virginia." According to an original box description, the materials were used in research preparation for a video by the NPS on Seneca Glass Company (potentially this Seneca Glass Company documentary), although only a few facsimile materials in the box pertain to the Seneca Glass Company. The box includes reports, engineering drawings, typed notes, photographic prints, correspondence, handwritten notes, student papers, and drafts of the directory. The box also includes facsimiles of the following: book excerpts, scholarly journal articles and essay drafts. Subjects include glass production in West Virginia, the directory of sites of glass industry, glass factories, and historic bridges. Highlights include a HAER nomination form for the Seneca Glass Company Factory building. The following oversize items were moved to Box 344: three clippings (1948-1970).

West Virginia Land Grants Records, 1748/1912 8.17 Linear Feet Summary: 8 ft. 2 in. (56 reels of microfilm, 1.75 in. each)

Records of land grants made by the Secretary of the Colony of Virginia from 1748 to 1778, by the Virginia Land Office of the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1779 until 1863, and by the State of West Virginia from its formation until 1912. These records were held by the Office of the West Virginia State Auditor at the time the Sims Index to Land Grants in West Virginia was published by State Auditor Edgar B. Sims in 1952. The land grants were microfilmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah and are now held by the West Virginia State Archives.

This collection includes records transferred from the West Virginia University College of Law (COL). Series I includes papers of various COL faculty, administrators, alumni, and associates. The most common material types are correspondence, notes, publications, course materials, and case files. Series II includes materials used as class resources, generated by students, and related to curriculum. The most common material types are course notes, syllabi, exam instructions, and reading materials. Series III includes materials related to COL events and the College's various publications (e.g., newsletters and journals). The most common material types are event programs and invitations, event planning materials, and copies of newsletters. Series IV includes administrative materials and records of general College of Law operations. This series contains the most diverse grouping of materials, and it includes things like correspondence, photographs, reports, and some artifacts. Series V includes records of renovations, additions, and new construction of COL facilities. The most common material types are architectural drawings and related correspondence. Series VI includes records related to the process of maintaining and reviewing the College's accreditation status with the American Bar Association and American Association of Law Schools. The most common material types are ABA/AALS reports, compiled internal records, and correspondence. Series VII includes records of the law library. The most common material types are correspondence, reports, and American Association of Law Libraries items. More detailed content descriptions are provided at the series and box level.
