The Fred W. Smith National Library includes general collections, special collections and archives as a resource for scholars, students, and those interested in George Washington, colonial America and the Revolutionary and founding eras.

The library's general collections include secondary source materials on the Washington and Custis families, and the colonial and founding eras.

The Special Collections materials highlight the lives of George and Martha Washington as well as their descendants through correspondence, financial materials, and original books from George and Martha Washington's library.

The archives of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association holds the historic institutional records of the organization dating back to its founding in 1853.

A.D. 2 pages. Lawrence Lewis's account with the Estate of Washington including expenses incurred by him from 1825 to 1833 for housing, food, clothing, medical attendance, and other items. Lewis states that all his other accounts with the Executor of the Estate are now settled and if anyone should desire to examine same he may do so. "On account of Old free Negroes of the Estate." Autograph document signed, folio size invoice.

Daybook, Thomas Peter for the estate of Robert Peter, 1809/1832 1 Volumes Box 36

Ledger for the estate of Robert Peter maintained by his son Thomas Peter. The bond volume contains 176 pages, partially completed. Accounts are entered on pages 6-54, pages 55-173 are blank, and pages 174-176 include bank notes at the Bank of Columbia and the Branch Bank of Washington City. A scrap of paper with calculations was found between pages 49 and 50 and is included in the digitization.
