The collection consists largely of correspondence to Morgantown businessman John Rogers from relatives in Pennsylvania and Maryland. It also includes two letters from Sgt. William A. Widney, who was assigned to the U.S. War Department during the Civil War, to a Morgantown friend (possibly William Hennen). One letter was written by an unidentified woman to her grandson, a West Virginia University student.

Letter from Luke Turnan of Baltimore, Maryland to John Rogers of Morgantown, Virginia (present day West Virginia) regarding business affairs, including a possible land transaction in Uniontown, the price of flour, and poor agricultural conditions (4 June 1822). A transcription is available. Also includes a financial record apparently documenting production or sales of shoes, including a list of transactions identifying customer names, dates, and costs for the period July 1832 to October 1833; John Rogers and Augustin Wells appear to be the vendors.
