Family papers, periodicals, newspapers, clippings, maps, and other materials of the Price family in Marlinton. Most of the papers are those of Andrew Price, a Marlinton attorney, including records of the law firm of Price, Osenton and McPeak. Other materials, ca.1901-1949, concern J.W. Price, a Marlinton physician. There are muster rolls of Company C, Sixty-second Virginia Infantry, C.S.A., from Pendleton County; and manuscripts of essays, verse, and historical articles written by Andrew Price.

2 sets of photocopies of a record book kept by Andrew Reid, clerk of Rockbridge County, Virginia, entitled "For the Registering of Free Negroes [of Rockbridge County] according to the Act . . . of the General Assembly of Virginia, passed January 25, 1803" which includes physical descriptions, ages, information on former owners and record of emancipation. The volume was also used as a registry of boats to comply with An act of the General Assembly of Virginia entitled "an act regulating the navigation of James River above the falls of said river."

Collection includes photocopies of patents issued to Barron for his inventions and a typescript of William Oliver Stevens' An Affair of Honor, a biography of Barron. Correspondents include John Adams, Jesse Duncan Elliott, Andrew Jackson, Thomas Jefferson, Amos Kendall, Duff Green and Abel P. Upshur. 753 items.
