Most of the papers are those of Andrew Price, a Marlinton attorney, including records of the law firm of Price, Osenton and McPeak. Other materials, ca.1901-1949, concern J.W. Price, a Marlinton physician. There are muster rolls of Company C, Sixty-second Virginia Infantry, C.S.A., from Pendleton County; and manuscripts of essays, verse, and historical articles written by Andrew Price.

The volume was also used as a registry of boats to comply with An act of the General Assembly of Virginia entitled "an act regulating the navigation of James River above the falls of said river."
