Abstract Or Scope

Printed maps, circa 1675-1918, collected by Col. John Womack Wright pertaining to his interest in military events in Europe chiefly in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The collection primarily concerns the cartography of areas in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, and Italy. The collection includes examples of the work of Willem Janszoon Blaeu, Guillaume de L'Isle, Johann Baptist Homann, Tobias Conrad Lotter, Placide de Saint Helene, John Senex, George Mattheus Seutter the Older; and Nikolaus Visscher II. Also includes notebook, 1919; and a publication of the American Geographical Society, 1924.

Historical Collections and Services houses seventeen boxes of Wade Hampton Frost materials. The Frost Papers include personal and official correspondence, photographs, scientific publications, newspaper articles, taped interviews, and assorted memorabilia pertaining to Wade Hampton Frost and his family. Frost's daughter, Susan Frost Parrish, donated the collection to the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library in 1984 with added research notes. (It is noted that the maiden name of Susan Frost Parrish is Susan Haxall Frost which is also her mother's name. She is entered in our collection as Susan Frost Parrish).

Ollen Lawrence Burnette, Jr. papers, 1815-2014, 6 cubic feet, containing Dr. Burnette's research and manuscripts for "Coastal Kingdom: A History of Baldwin County, Alabama" and other writings (1953-2011); correspondence with history professors and academics at state and private universities about teaching jobs, education, and history (1946-2003); military service records and assignments (1945-1987), and personal papers (1815-2011) including correspondence, school papers and yearbooks, pocket diaries, financial and legal papers, business ventures, organizations, awards, medals, photographs, church affiliations, and politics. Also included are papers of the Highsmith family containing slave receipts, confederate money, and a "cipher" book.

The Women's volleyball records contain photographs, slides, print and audio-visual materials documenting the players, coaches and events from William & Mary's Women's Volleyball team. Items include one poster from the 2016 William & Mary Women's Volleyball Team featuring photographs of athletes and numerous signatures from the players. The poster also includes details of upcoming games. Photographs and slides illustrate volleyball players participating in practices and games.

Tyree collection of research notes of Virginia families compiled from Virginia county records. Notebooks containing genealogical information compiled by Young Tyree. Concerns mostly Virginia counties and families, but also includes notes from Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Scotland and England. Tyree took notes on looseleaf paper of land patents and arranged the pages in binders by county and by patentee in alphabetical orders. Families he was particularly interested in were Allen, Avery, Black, Branch, Burton, Chadwell, Cox, Davenport, Durham, Elam, Ferguson, Finch, Fleming, Fore, Goddin, Hancock, Hatcher, Hogg, Jones, Jordan, Meredith, Mills, Mitchell, Mosby, Moseley, Pollock, Price, Ratcliffe, Shepherd, Smith, Summers, Taylor, Tiller and Tyree. He also took notes from censuses and from tax rolls.
