Letters and papers of the Earls of Dunmore, a branch of the Murray family of Scotland. All of the papers, except eleven items relating to Virginia, 1770, 1776 are photocopies. The early papers relate to lands in Brabant (a province of the Netherlands) inherited from the 7th Earl of Derby and his wife, and to the role of Charles Murray, 1st Earl of Dunmore (1661- 1710) as Master of the Horse to Queen Mary, the wife of James II.

This collection contains a leather bound English receipt and home remedy book, dating 1665-1704. The book's contents include food recipes for various wines, desserts, and meals, as well as treatment for agues, pains, and various illnesses. Loose papers within the collection contain more recipes and a love poem. Several names inside the front cover, along with different handwritings, suggest the book may have at least two owners: "Madam White" and Mrs. Ashworth. A typed transcription of the book's contents is also included.

Historical Collections and Services houses seventeen boxes of Wade Hampton Frost materials. The Frost Papers include personal and official correspondence, photographs, scientific publications, newspaper articles, taped interviews, and assorted memorabilia pertaining to Wade Hampton Frost and his family. Frost's daughter, Susan Frost Parrish, donated the collection to the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library in 1984 with added research notes. (It is noted that the maiden name of Susan Frost Parrish is Susan Haxall Frost which is also her mother's name. She is entered in our collection as Susan Frost Parrish).

The bulk of the material can be found in the 1970- 1980 date range. There is extensive information on James Branch Cabell, Ellen Glasgow and the Edgeworth/Mordecai relationship. Activities of the Ellen Glasgow Society and the Virginia Writer's Club, to a lesser extent, are also documented. Clipping for "Rain" RTD 10/31/24 fragile note taken and clipping discarded. Photographs removed to University Photograph Collection. The video "Richmond: Historic Sights & Haunts" has been transferred to RG 70.
