The correspondence, travel vouchers and articles of John D. Winebrenner, a regional director of the UMWA Health & Retirement Funds in Tennessee. Papers and publications reflect the problems and contributions of organized medicine and the promotional efforts of the United Mine Workers of America in meeting the diverse medical needs of coal miners, particularly the majority of miners who lived and worked in remote areas. Publications included The Boone Report and Medical Services for Rural Areas: The Tennessee Medical Foundation.
