Abstract Or Scope

This collection consists of eight letters from J. Singleton Diggs, Lynchburg, on Diggs and Manson Law Officestationery, September-October 1887, to his wife Lily Diggs, visiting relatives at Stony Point Mills, Cumberland County, Virginia. These letters are full of news about home; his attempts to locate some possible candidates for domestic help to be interviewed by her when she returns; concern for his children; brief references to his legal practice and the "radical ticket" in politics; his plans to come and pick them up; and progress in fixing up their house. There is also a short note from Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Pettyjohnto J. Singleton Diggs, June 19, 1884, thanking him for his beautiful gift.
