Series of letters addressed to Herbert Smith who served in the Army during World War I as part of the 184th Aero Squadron, AEF. Included with the letters is a war service chevron along with the documentation allowing Private H. B. Smith to wear the award.

Williams writes to her sister in Charlottesville, Virginia, to inquire about their father's ailing health and to give an update on the health of her own family. Her son Robert is the sickest, taken with the summer complaints, which a doctor diagnoses as dysentery. She also writes about the rental or purchase of a summer home and begs her sister to respond directly with her opinions on the matter.

He writes of his appreciation for having his cousin relay a message of courtship to a Miss Julia, despite the lukewarm response she wrote in return. He also lays out his plans as they pertain to his return to Williamsburg in preparation for the upcoming session.

The letter to Mrs. Marion Naes is from her husband who gives his account on his experience being a soldier during the Pacific War.

Series of letters addressed to Jesse Figula A private in the Army who was stationed at the Panama Canal Zone, from various individuals dated 1933-1945. Two of the authors are his brothers, Bill and George, who also join the armed forces during World War, II. Louie, another brother who is serving in the US Navy, also writes to Jesse. In one letter dated 1937, Bill describes a Union strike at the steel mill in their town.

Four page letter from Joanna Ross written on leaterhead from the Virginia Institution for the education of the deaf, dumb, and the blind, Staunton, Virginia. She describes reading to a blind girl and of learning sign language. She also comments on the mild weather in Staunton, her sister's health, people she has met, and books she has recently enjoyed reading.

Law suit filed in Warren County in the state of Mississippi for the June term of the circuit court in 1866. The plaintiffs of the case were John C. and George Wilson Humphreys. Their complaint was against the company of Wells and Green. Their charge is that an agreement was made in January of 1864 for the sale and delivery of 8,000 cypress logs but that the logs were never delivered. The plaintiffs were seeking damages in the sum of $100,000.00.
