One of Williamsburg's Most Historical Buildings is the Colonial Capitol where virginia's General Assembly convened from 1704 to 1780. Here an embarrassed and stammering George Washington was applauded by fellow burgesses for his part in the French and Indian War; here Patrick Henry defiantly protested the Stamp Act until accused of treason; and here George Mason's Virginia Declaration of Rights was passed.
