Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia Medal (UA 1981.012), 1941 Artifacts Box 506

Society of the Cincinnati Medal (UA 1991.035), 1939 Artifacts Box 515

One round gold medal, 2.25in. in diameter, awarded to James H. Bailey by the Society of the Cincinnati in Virginia for his essay "Peter Francisco, Washington's One-Man Regiment." One side of the medal features the Greek temple form of the college seal. The other features the emblem of the Society. There is also a turquoise velvet ribbon that was later attached by Bailey, but which was not part of the award. Gift of James H. Bailey. Soon, No Place to Go… Printer's Block

Soon, No Place to Go… Printer's Block. Wood and metal printer's block with the words "Soon, no place to go…" across the top and an image depicting the Williamsburg Regional Library, a man in colonial garb nailing and eviction notice to a post, and anthropomorphic books crying on a curb. "The Virginia Gazette" is in small type in the bottom corner of the plate, and the illegible artist's name is in the bottom left corner of the plate. Block measures .875 in. (height) x 3.875 in. (width) x 5.125 in. (length).The block is in good condition with moderate accumulation of detritus in the grooves of the metal plate and mild black stains on the wooden block. Transferred from Box 1 of the Wilford Kale Papers (Mss.2008.103). Mss2008.103.02
