1-Aluminum medallion pin that features green and gold thread in a criss-cross wheel pattern. The back of the pin has a squeeze clasp with which the wearer can affix the pin to his or her garment. The pin is contained inside a small cubic box measuring approximately 1.125in (length x width) and 0.75in. (height). The box has a black base and a clear top. The pin measures approximately 0.375in. in diameter and is in excellent condition. Bequest of Anne Dobie Peebles, transferred from the Office of the President by Michael J. Fox. UA 2014.106.02

Scope and Contents

9k yellow gold enamel and gold inlay brooch. The Brooch features the Third Seal of the College of William Mary with a gold inlayed temple with a sun over it. The sky is done in blue enamel and the grass is done in green enamel. The brooch is shaped like a shield with a series of gold loops around it. On the back is a pendant loop with a pin, joint and catch. The brooch is contained within a black felt drawstring bag measuring approximately 3.25in. (length). The brooch measures approximately 1.75in. and is in excellent condition. There are a few scratches on the blue enamel under the sun but above the temple. There is also a small, clear strip of residue on the green enamel right below the front of the temple. On the back, below the pin, joint and catch is a curved scratch. A silver Drum Major mace that belonged to Jim Anthony, class of 1952, who was a drum major in the William and Mary band as a student. After graduation he became part of the Alumni band. The mace has a long silver handle and a sphere at the top. The mace measures approximately 31in. and is in good condition. The sphere of the mace has many dents and scratches, evidence considerable wear and tear. Transferred upon receipt from the Jim Anthony Papers (Mss. 2011.700, Acc. 2013.200). One pewter letter opener with the cypher of William III and Mary II decorating one end. It was made by Shirley Pewter Shop and given to the members of the President's Council the weekend of President Paul Verkuil's inauguration.The box was made by Pohlig Co. of Richmond, VA and is inscribed "The President's Council." the letter opener is 7.5in.
