Abstract Or Scope

Ledger, 1895-1898, of a pharmaceutical business operated by John Henry Crockett, a physician. It records the individual accounts of customers. Each account lists transactions in chronological order, medication purchased, quantity purchased, form of payment, amount owed, and amount paid. Pharmaceutcals sold include laudanum, sweet oil, quinine, linament, borax, castor oil, pepsin, and glycerine. The store also sold general merchandise such as bug poison, toothbrushes, toilet paper, shoe polish, and cigarettes. Forms of payment include cash, credit, check, and labor. The volume includes an index that records the names of customers in alphabetical order and the page numbers where their accounts can be found.
