This series of the papers of George Garrett contains 566 various audiocassettes and 13 compact disks from the papers of George Garrett. The series contains readings by Garrett and other literary figures at a variety of classes, workshops, events, radio programs, and literary festivals as well as appearances at bookstores, colleges, and churches. Venues include the Virginia Festival of the Book, Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, Hollins Literary Festival, Jefferson Institute for Life Long Learning, New Dominion Bookstore, Second Street Gallery, Williams Corner Bookstore, PEN/Faulkner Awards, Association of Writers and Writing Programs, Bennington Writer's Workshops, Poetry Society of Virginia, St. Paul's Church, Ivy, University of Virginia Bookstore, and the Yellow Shoe Poets (Louisiana State University). Of interest are his reading at the funeral service for May Sarton, the Raleigh lecture at Trinity College, Oxford, readings in honor of Staige Blackford, Martin Battestin on George Herbert, a discussion of John Updike, and Henry Taylor's essay on Eleanor Taylor. Several of the tapes were commercially produced.
