Abstract Or Scope
The Amon W. Updike Correspondence consists of photocopies of five letters from Updike while camped in New Kent, Chesterfield, and Henrico counties, Virginia, to his sister, Phebe Arthur, during the American Civil War. Also included are photocopies of letters from Phebe Arthur to her husband Henry, letters from Henry to Phebe and to other family members, and a letter from J.O. Hensley, Arthur's captain, informing Phebe of her husband's death.
