Series XII. Houston Academy of Medicine/Texas Medical Center additions consists of materials that Philip Showalter Hench created or collected while researching the yellow fever experiments. Items in this series date from around 1901 to around 1966. These materials were originally a part of the Philip S. Hench papers in the John P. McGovern Historical Collections and Research Center at the Texas Medical Center Library, but they were transferred to the University of Virginia in 1991. These items include, but are not limited to the following:

Series XIII. Reed family additions, 1850/1967, bulk 1868/1949 2 boxes Box 139-140

Series XIII. Reed family additions consists of materials relating to the yellow fever experiments that several different donors gave to the University of Virginia. Items in the series date from around 1850 to 1967 with the bulk of the items dating from 1868 to 1949. The largest portion of the series is comprised of correspondence written by Walter Reed and his family between 1877 and 1902 that provide insights into their relationships and personal lives.

Series XIV. P. Kahler Hench additions, 1860/1965, bulk 1898/1965 10 boxes Box 141-150

Series XIV. P. Kahler Hench additions consists of original and photocopied materials that Philip Showalter Hench's son, P. Kahler Hench, donated to the University of Virginia in 1988 and 1989. Items in the series date from around 1860 to 1965 with the bulk of the materials dating from 1898 to 1965. Most of these items were collected or created by Philip Showalter Hench while researching the yellow fever experiments. These items include the following:

Series XVI. Edward Hook additions, 1880/1998, bulk 1898/1901 1 box Box 153

Series XVI. Edward Hook additions consists of copies of letters, articles, and photographs relating to the yellow fever experiments that had been collected by Edward W. Hook, Jr, a professor of medicine at the University of Virginia. The bulk of this series is comprised of copies of a small collection of James Carroll's correspondence. The original versions of Carroll's correspondence are not housed at the University of Virginia. In addition to the Carroll letters, this series also includes, but is not limited to the following:

This Fitzroy Maclean papers consist (1827-1996; 44 cubic feet) of the professional and personal papers of Scottish soldier, diplomat, politician, author, and traveler, Sir Fitzroy Hew Maclean (1911-1996) of Dunconnel. It includes correspondence, memoranda, manuscripts, typescripts, newspaper and magazine articles, book reviews, lectures, speeches, photographs, memorabilia, and research material pertaining to his military, diplomatic, political and literary career as well as family and personal affairs.

Somerville family papers, 1821/2013 24 Cubic Feet 24 cubic foot boxes

The Somerville family papers (1821-2013) consists of correspondence, photographs, printed materials, and extensive genealogical files. The papers and research detailing the history of the Somerville family, mainly in America, range from its colonial background to contemporary times. The extensive genealogical research is comprised of notes and charts, along with correspondence, photographs, military records, personal notes, clippings, and printed materials. The collection also includes records detailing financial history of family assets, including wills, estates, and records of the sale of enslaved laborers and land. Scattered throughout the collection are photographs, negatives, and daguerreotypes of many Somerville family members, as well as some sheet music, and artifacts. Part of the collection also details the backgrounds of other families genealogically related to the Somervilles, such as the Stringfellow and Nottingham families.

Stella Pratt scrapbook, 1867/1947 0.4 Cubic Feet 1 small oversize box, 2 folders

The Stella Pratt scrapbook (1883-1894; 0.4 cubic feet) contains correspondence, clippings, printed material, invitations, sketches, flowers, ribbons, photos, and a sketch of Stella herself. Pratt is from Longwood, Massachusetts, a neighborhood within Brookline.

Stowe grocery store ledgers, 1870/1934 0.4 Cubic Feet 1 document box

The Stowe grocery store ledgers (1870-1934; 0.4 cubic feet) document the operation of the titular family's grocery store in Petersburg, Virginia. Ledgers document monthly expenses for items ranging from rent to flour to labor. The collection also contains a small file of personal letters and bills for appliances.

Taylor family papers, 1894/1983 2.8 Cubic Feet Seven letter-sized document boxes

This collection contains personal letters, postcards, U.Va. grade reports, certificates, a Monticello Association Lifetime Pass, various Army documents, and pamphlets on the life and interests of Thomas Jefferson documenting the lives of the Taylor Family: Edward Colston Taylor (1877-1940), Jessie Alwine Taylor (1879-1973 ), and Edward Colston Taylor, Jr. (1911-1997). The collection includes genealogical notes and research on the Taylor Family, undertaken by Peter Flugg Mayron, an Austin, Texas, architecture historian.
