The John B. Moore papers consist of correspondence, newspaper clippings, handwritten drafts, and a 1966 John Bassett Moore commemorative postage stamp and envelope. The donors of these items are unknown, although probably some papers were found by the librarian in the books Moore donated to the Law School in the 1920s. The approximately forty items span the years 1894 to 1966 and, for the most part, are unrelated. Of possible historical interest are letters, some in Spanish and French, and a few clippings about the Spanish-American War and international law. Of biographical interest are letters Moore wrote from 1936 to 1941 to Margaret W. Grimm, who lived in the house in Smyrna, Delaware, where Moore was born. Finally, there is a 1966 special series stamp commemorating John B. Moore as a prominent American educator, diplomat, and authority on international law.

Norfolk Poet's Club Records (1912-1983; 2 cubic feet) include manuscripts of Josephine Johnson and Margaret Haley Carpenter; and correspondence of Mary Sinton Leitch, Josephine Johnson, Julia Johnson Davis, and William Stanley Braithwaite. There are also press releases, newspaper clippings, printed items, and scrapbooks about these poets and editors and their colleagues as well as their poetry and the creative writing process.

The collection consists of bound volumes, journals, daybooks, and notebooks belonging to John Scott, Richard Marshall Scott,Sr., Richard Marshall Scott,Jr., James L. Gunnell, and Dr. Francis M. Gunnell, and a photograph album belonging to Sarah Louise Rittenhouse. Other materials include printed articles about the Bush Hill plantation,a copy of a book, "The Battles of Aldie, Middleburg and Upperville," and genealogical charts, tables and notes.

Scrapbook of clippings that was probably compiled by Blossom Reed, 1900/1901 Box 72, Folder 8 [oversize]

The scrapbook contains photographs from newspapers and magazines of stage and film actresses as well as opera and concert singers. Several men are included. People represented are Viola Allen, Julia Arthur (Cheney), Anna Held, Madge Lessing (autograph and envelope addressed to Miss Emilie Lawrence Reed), Julia Marlowe (autograph), Maude Adams (autograph), Marguerite Lemon, Otis Skinner (autograph), Virginia Earl, Mary Mannering (autograph), Virginia Harned, Jessie Bartlett Davis, Caroline Miskel, William Gillett, Alice Nielsen (autograph), Edward Willard (autograph) and a note by Atcheson Hench.

Series II. Henry Rose Carter consists of materials relating to Henry Rose Carter that Philip Showalter Hench collected while researching the yellow fever experiments. Items in this series date from around 1880 to 1932 with the bulk of the materials dating from 1883 to 1932. The series is particularly rich in materials that document Henry Rose Carter's professional activities in the last eleven years of his life (1914-1925). These materials include, but are not limited to the following:

Series III. Walter Reed consists of materials that document the life of Walter Reed as well as the work and legacy of the U.S. Army Yellow Fever Commission. Items in the series date from 1806 to around 1955 with the bulk of the items dating from 1874 to 1936. The series is particularly rich in materials that document the professional and personal life of Walter Reed from 1874 to his death in 1902. These materials include, but are not limited to the following:
