Collection of photographs from the Nuzum family of Fairmont and related families, including the Reed, Ferguson, Ostrowske, Winslow, and Diven families. The photographs include portraits and candid shots of mostly children, but also other family members. There are also portraits and candid shots of men in military uniform from World War I and World War II. Also contains greeting cards and the funeral book of Iva Nuzum. Most of the photographs include identifications and dates, though not all of them.

Lambert, West Virginia University history professor and manuscripts collector for the West Virginia Collection. Papers deal with Dr. Lambert's teaching duties, his various writings and publications, and his archival collecting activities at the West Virginia and Regional History Center.

Archives of an eminent folklorist and professor of English at West Virginia University. Manuscripts include field folklore collections, lecture notes, book manuscripts, correspondence, student papers, and folksong arrangements. There are also materials regarding Gainer's position as director of South Atlantic USO activities during World War II and a journal of a folksong collecting trip to Ireland in 1961. Also two hundred and ninety-three audio tapes containing vocal and instrumental folk music, folklore and oral history, recorded in West Virginia and in Scotland and Ireland. Nearly half of the material is performed by Gainer himself. The collection also includes news clippings relating to folklore and Gainer's career, as well as a variety of photographs, film clips, and personal awards and memorabilia.

Correspondence, papers, photographs, newsletters, and publications of Paul Dresser from his service in the Fifth Army during World War II. As a member of the Officer leadership of the Army Group, Dresser worked closely with General Clark, Commander of the Fifth Army throughout the war. Dresser participated in the landing of American forces in North Africa (Operation Torch) and served briefly under General Patton during this campaign. Included in his papers is a sign that served as written communication for the landing forces under the leadership of Patton. Dresser sent home carbon copies of Patton's immediate correspondence with Generals Eisenhower and Montgomery to his wife for safe keeping. A letter to require the complete surrender from the Sultan of Morocco is included in the messages Dresser kept.

This collection includes a family Bible, ration books from World War II, correspondence, a diary, stenographers' notebooks, and other personal materials.

Most articles, clippings and notes concern those people associated with Captain John Smith, a leader of the Jamestown settlement in Virginia.
