Events typically include card games, food, and socializing. There is also discussion of former members and their reasons for leaving the club. Meetings were usually held in the homes of various members.

A 271 page dairy written by Beatrice E. Smither, a young woman working at the law firm Williams and Mullen in Richmond, VA. Over the year of 1925, Smither writes about a variety of topics including work, civic and church clubs, politics, family, friends, as well as her romances with two separate men, Cy and George.

This collection contains financial records, 1956-1958, 1966 and membership index cards of the Blue Star Mothers of America. The financial records trace various disbursements and include receipts and check stubs.

Some of the papers relate to the American Fireside Club, of which Eleanor Fredricks was the organizer.

Included are a scrapbook, correspondence, photographs, clippings, postcards and fliers, as well as drafts of articles authored by her. Some of the papers relate to the American Fireside Club, of which Eleanor Fredricks was the organizer. The American Fireside Club was a social club, whose members contributed antiques instead of dues, and who exhibited some of their items while also engaging in "recreation and handicraft" and at times put on entertainments to raise funds for charity. The collection also includes drafts of Fredricks' book "Adventures of Cain," which includes characters and stories from the Christian Bible.

Both women write about their activities with their family and friends in Rochester and Binghamton, New York. Both include references to important local and national events. Florence Rachel Cavanaugh Morrison's diaries cover 1924, 1927-1929, while Dora Helen Cavanaugh Kline's diaries are from 1929-1930. Per Dora Kline's notation in the back of her 1930 diary, the Kavanaugh Family members are: Father – Tim, Mother – Emma, First Child – Larry, Second Child – Florence, Third Child – Jack, Fourth Child – Dora, Fifth Child – Alice.
