Papers relating to property owned by Anne Haughwout Cutler, of the Bucktrout-Braithwaite family in Williamsburg, Virginia. Cutler was the great-great-granddaughter of Benjamin Bucktrout, a cabinetmaker from London who moved to Williamsburg in 1766, where he opened a business making funeral coffins.

The collection contains 20 paper manuscripts. The papers were written by members of the Betty Washington Lewis family. Some papers were signed by Lewis. The papers date from 1783 - 1844.

The collection consists of a variety of French, English, and American documents that span from the late thirteenth century to the year 1950.

Ledger, 1838-1852 and financial records, 1828 to circa 1853 of the Graham family of Bath County, Virginia. The ledger contains entries concerning the threshing and delivery of wheat, oats, and rye. The inner leather cover of the ledger records deaths in the Graham family for the years 1837-1848. Family members listed include Christopher Graham, Jane Graham, A. Graham, and G. Graham. The collection also contains 51 other documents, mainly notes and receipts dealing with Thomas Graham. These documents, dating mainly from 1828 to 1853, deal with topics such as threshing wheat, dressing sheep skins, and making shoes. Other items of interest include a receipt for tickets sent to Richmond, a note including samples of sand paper, and the 1894 will of Elizabeth Graham. In her will, Elizabeth Graham bequeaths items to a number of her sons and daughters, including John Graham, Mary Bradshaw, Franklin P. Graham, Samantha Ann Hicklin, George Graham, David Graham, William Roft Graham, Elizabeth Hamilton, Archie Graham, and Charlie Henry Graham.

Two page filing with the City of Petersburg regarding the residence, wealth, and suspicious death of Green's sister, Fillis Turner, a free African American who resided with Phil Seward. Within the Affidavit, Green accounts the tumultuous relationship between his sister and her companion, the money she had on hand before her death, and the sudden and suspicious nature of her death. In his affidavit, Green requests a full inquiry of the courts into these matters on behalf of himself and his children as the benefactors of his sister's wealth and possessions. A typed transcription of the affidavit is included with the original.

An artificial collection of papers created from material acquired during the 1930's and 1940's. Mostly letters, financial records, published material and official records of individuals in Virginia and elsewhere. Includes documents and signatures of well known people, such as Benjamin Harrison, John Randolph and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Letters written by and to the Moyers family from 1874 to 1906 sent to New Market, Gainesville, Standardsville, and Cedar Keys, and from Richmond, Gordonsville, and Standardsville. There are three postcards and eight letters between different Moyers family members. The first two letters are from G. W. Moyers to his wife Susie and discuss traveling to visit cousins, the construction of the railroad in Stanton, and his traveling home from North Carolina. Two postcards from G. W. Moyers in Richmond to his brother A. J. Moyers in Standardsville ask him to write more often. A four page letter from J. M. Moyers to his father and siblings asks why they haven't written, talks about sickness, and mentions rising food costs. A brief letter from J. M. Moyers to his brother discusses their father's will, how J. M. "ought to have" $960, and an uncle who was also involved. Another letter from J. M. to his brother continues to ask about their father's will and how it says that J. M. is "to have $260 out of the will to make [him] even with William in advanced already made to him." Two letters from Sallie to brother G. W. Moyer talk about the difficulties of rural life, health problems, and taxes coming due at "between 40 and 45 dollars." A letter to G. W. Moyer from a tax collector asks for payment of the taxes on the Moyers estate which come to $27.72, of which G. W. must pay half.

One page letter informing Peter Goelet that William Neate had passed away and that, as the executor's of his Last Will and Testament, they would settle the accounts maintained by him and owed to Mr. Goelet in the sum of 100 pounds. Also a bill of lading of sundry goods sent from John Grosvenor in Liverpool, England to Peter Goulet in New York City on March 12, 1802. Goods include utensils, cooking irons, tools, trunks, and clocks.
