Papers of Donald Nehlen, Hall of Fame head football coach for the West Virginia University Mountaineers, 1980-2000. The collection includes correspondence, memorabilia, ephemera and the 2000 season Mountaineer offense playbook. There are also several reproductions, both digital and prints, of photographs from several events celebrating his career, and images of awards and honors presented to Coach Nehlen for his contribution to college football.

Memorabilia acquired by West Virginia University (WVU) student Sallye Bom (formerly Sallye Stewart) during the 1940s. Includes Sallye Bom's WVU Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) woman's cap and cape dating from 1948 in navy blue and gold. Also includes photograph of Sallye Bom, 1944 WVU football handbook, and 1944 WVU football schedule. (Robert Bom was a member of the Mountaineers football team in 1944.) There are WVU football programs for 1944 (6 issues and 1 duplicate), 1945 (7 issues), 1946 (1 issue), 1947 (3 issues and 1 duplicate), and 1948 (1 issue). There are also 2 issues of "Illustrated Football Annual" (1945, 1947) and 1 issue of "Street and Smith's 1945 Football Pictorial Year Book."

Sound recordings of interviews conducted with Tony Constatine in 2001, sports editor of the Morgantown Post from 1936-1972. Topics addressed include the history of football and basketball at West Virginia University (WVU) through the decades. Includes over 20 hours of interviews on original set of cassette audio tapes, and duplicate set of digital audio files on 27 compact discs (numbered 1-8, 8a-26). Also present are compact discs 27-29 with additional sports related files. Interviews were conducted by Edgar O. Barrett. Constatine has written two books on WVU football, including "Mountaineer Football, 1891-1969" and "A Record of West Virginia University Football, The First 100 Years".

Includes programs for the All-Sports Banquet (1951, 1954), the West Virginia University Sports Hall of Fame 14th Annual Induction Ceremony (2004), and other events. Photographs are black and white and date from the 1940s; subjects of photographs include WVU sports teams, World War II veterans attending WVU, Fred Schaus (WVU basketball coach), Leland Byrd (WVU athletic director), and Bobby Jackson and "The Juggling Jacksons". Also contains a prospectus regarding the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts (ca. 1960).

Programs for West Virginia University football and basketball intercollegiate games. Football programs are scattered and incomplete in the range from 1940-2001, although there is a concentration for the 1961-1967 seasons; basketball programs are similarly scattered and incomplete in the range from 1950-2001, with the exception of the 2000-2001 season. Most programs are for individual games although there are a few guides for entire seasons as well. Miscellaneous items (box 1, folder 1) includes a program for a Willie Akers Appreciation Dinner (1983), among other items.
