The VMI Alumni Association is a private organization affiliated with VMI; the VMI Archives does not house the records of the Association. However, the Archives does preserve printed material, publications created by the Association, some Class reunion material, and related material (e.g. photograph collection from the office of the Alumni Review), and miscellaneous subject files on topics of general interest. This collection also includes some historical minutes of the Association.

The material in this sub-series is related to the Biennial meeting and conference.

Includes film of ROTC cavalry drill and horsemanship practice on Parade Ground, including jumping; Barracks scenes; cadet orchestra; other scenes from cadet life ca. 1939

A collection of videos (some amateur, some professional) documenting special events such as matriculation, Ring Figure, graduation, speeches, and other topics relating to VMI activities and cadet life. The bulk of this collection dates from the 1980's forward, although a few date from an earlier period.

Records relating to the inaugural ceremonies or assumption of command events for the various Superintendents. In recent administations there have not been elaborate inaugural ceremonies.

Images in all formats created or commissioned by the Communications and Marketing Office [previous names include Public Information Office and Public Relations. Physical formats include include black and white and color prints, slides, and proof sheets. Digital image created by the office, as well as those posted on VMI's VMI's official social media platforms are also collected and cataloged by the Archives staff.

Chronological file containing programs, speeches, photos and other publicity material relating to the annual Nov. 11 celebrations. Includes programs for Semi-Centennial (1889), Centennial (1939), and Sesquicentennial (1989).
