The Appalachian Student Organizing Committee (or Appalachian Student Committee) was an approved student organization at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the early 1970s. The collection consists primarily of the papers of David Tice and Allan Cox, student organizers of the Appalachian Student Organizing Committee. Materials include correspondence, clippings files, small-press and local publications on Appalachian issues, petitions, and notes and drafts. The materials in the collection deal with various topics, including strip mining and land use issues, poverty, health care and free clinics, coal mining and coal miners, strikes, local political races, issues at Virginia Tech, and the Vietnam War and other national and international issues.

The Choices and Challenges Forum at Virginia Tech was founded in 1985 by Doris Zallen, who served as its director until 2003. Each forum addresses the ethical and social issues created by advances in science, technology, and medicine.

The Records of the Coordinating Council for Women's Concerns (CCWC) contains minutes, correspondence, reports, brochures, and more from May 1988 to August 1992. Subjects include the development of a women's center, equality on campus, affirmative action, history of the group, and more. The CCWC was formed in 1989 to coordinate the work of several programs and groups in the university related to women. The group promoted initiatives against inequality and developed support systems for women at Virginia Tech and in the community.

This collection comprises correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other documents related to the duties of the office of the VPI Dean of the College during C. P. Miles' tenure from 1942 to 1950. The collection contains general administrative records relating to scholarships, complaints, student activities, class and semester formats, and Corps of Cadets records. It also contains student personal records, including disciplinary cases, financial aid data, and college resignations, which are restricted for 75 years. C. P. "Sally" Miles (1879-1966) graduated from Virginia Tech in 1901 and went on to serve as a professor, athletic director, and dean of the college.
