This collection contains university diplomas for various people related to Virginia Tech, both alumni and faculty. This collection includes 16 Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees awarded between 1877 and 1964, with 15 from Virginia Tech. Diplomas are for William S. Adkisson, Katherine Sue Arrington, R.E.L. Aylor, John Poindexter Billingsley, William Mayo Brodie, J.M. Carrington, Calvert Lewis Estill, Howard Rucker Keister Jr., Howard Rucker Keister Sr., Harvey B. McDonald, Charles Preston Millard, Hugh Chapman Minton, Thomas Jefferson Rowe, Jr., George Carter Stone, and Pryor Lindsay Watts. There are also several blank diplomas for Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College from the 1880s or 1890s.

The Doris Zallen Papers, Ms2018-032, contains meeting notes from the Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee, Doris Zallen's professional papers, book reviews, and background on Zallen's published papers from 1960 to 2016. Doris Zallen attended Brooklyn College and Harvard University before becaming a professor of Science and Technolgy Studies and Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Science at Virginia Tech. This collection follows Zallen's acadamic work from the undergraduate to graduate level, post-doctoral appointments, and her genetic research and teaching. Included in this collection is Zallens research on the Liverpool School which providedresearches the medical advance of the prevention of Rh disease.

The Dr. Richard Zallen Papers document the research and professional development of a physics professor at Virginia Tech specializing in condensed matter research. Papers largely cover the second half of the twentieth century and include information on research at Xerox; professional correspondence; Virginia Tech lecture notes; drafts of published work; and documents concerning trips, sabbaticals, and conferences. Materials include hand-written documents, published material, flat plate drawings, photographs, a sample of "melt-spun amorphous," and stamps from various countries.

Drum Major's Mace, 1917

This Drum Major's Mace was previously owned by Ralph Edward Hughes and was possibly given to him by Sherman Edmond Seelinger. The mace is approxamately three feet long and is wrapped in orange and maroon ribbon, with excess ribbon hanging off of one end. On the opposite end of the mace is a rounded wooden top that has been painted gold.

Earle D. Gregory Collection, 1915/1997

This collection contains the papers of Congressional Medal of Honor winner and VPI alum Earle D. Gregory (1897-1972), documenting his time a member of the 1st Virginia, 29th Regiment of the U.S. Army during World War I. The majority of the materials relate specifically Gregory's impact during his first day of combat at Bois-de-Consenvoye, France for which Gregory was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic actions. In his lifetime, Earle Gregory received several awards and recognitions. Some of the most notable awards include the Medal of Honor and Purple Heart, along with a Medal of Honor plaque signed by President Lyndon Johnson, which is a replacement of Gregory's original certificate signed by President Woodrow Wilson which was destroyed in a fire. A total of eleven medals are included in the collection, along with other certificates and miscellaneous items, including a signed invitation to President Richard Nixon's inauguration. The collection also includes items related to his student years at Virginia Polytechnic Institute after the war.
