Three ledgers containing accounts of the steamboat Sonoma, which operated on the Ohio River between Ravenswood and Marietta, Ohio, and intermediate points. The volumes contain listings of goods shipped, the shipper and destination, passenger lists and fares charged, and crew members' names, job listings, and rates of pay.

Written by Reverend William Duke (1757-1840), a Protestant Episcopal minister, as a record of his journey from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, to Randolph County, (West) Virginia, to inspect a parcel of land that he had acquired. Documents early West Virginia travel, accommodations, and religious practices. Specifically mentioned are Georgetown, Frederick Town, Harpers Ferry, Potomac River, Old Town, Fort Cumberland, Allegheny River, Morgantown, and Bath. Subjects include: Methodism, Baptists, the Episcopal Church, the Pennsylvania Dutch, travel, and folklore.

For his Ph.D. in Public Policy, Ron Fraser wrote a dissertation on the reauthorization of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) of 1991. The materials in this collection come from his dissertation research and include 44 microcassette audiotapes, transcriptions, and 5.25" floppy disks of interviews with upper-level transportation officials.

Includes genealogy and Civil War records collected by Roy Bird Cook of Lewis County, West Virginia. Series 1 through 5 were compiled by Marcellus W. Zimmerman. They include correspondence, church records, academic records, genealogical records, research manuscripts, and clippings regarding primarily the genealogy and history of Lewisburg and Greenbrier County, and the life and career of Confederate Brigadier General Alexander W. Reynolds. Series 6 through 8 were collected by Roy Bird Cook. They include military records and clippings regarding West Virginia units, the Confederate 31st Virginia Infantry, and other Confederate units from Virginia; there are also business and miscellaneous records, including ledgers, clippings, research notes, etc. Series 9 includes oversized material from earlier series.

Also a letter book of the Oriental Powder Mills, Charleston, W.Va, of which John W.M. Appleton was agent; general store daybooks of E.D. Ballard; hotel and general store cash and daybooks of Erskine and Caruthers from Lexington and Salt Sulphur Springs. Records of the M.C.C.C. and O. Company of Waldingfield and Mill Creek, W.Va., and Mill Creek School records and Sweet Springs Gristmill and hotel records.
