This collection contains many materials relating to the South African mission. Dr. Leyburn saved a number of newspaper articles concerning South Africa which are contained herein. Reports on various industries and other aspects of South Africa are included. Also within this collection are an assortment of Dr. Leyburn's speeches, some of which address South Africa. The remainder of the speeches concern the future of Washington and Lee University.

Scrapbooks, photo albums, correspondence, travel diary, home movies of the Wilson and Davison families. 28 scrapbooks and loose correspondence related to three generations of the family of James Southall Wilson, with much material on the University of Virginia. Persons represented significantly include James Southall Wilson (1880-1963) and Julia Tyler Wilson (1881-1965);Charles Marshall Davison, Jr. (1914-1995) and Alida Wilson Davison (1913-1995); and Katharine "Kit" Stonestreet Davison (1943-).

This collection contains a scrapbook, diary, and correspondence belonging to Jane Isabella Watt White.

Jean Cynthia Cheatham family papers (1852-2012; 1 cubic foot) contains genealogy information, military papers, photographs, and scrapbooks.

This collection includes 153 handmade scrapbooks in which John E. Reed gathered and pasted newspaper and magazine articles, pamphlets, pictures, definitions, and handwritten notes about different plants. These scrapbooks are alphabetized by the botanical/scientific names of each plant, and the collection also includes four index books for reference. It also includes copies of two pages of correspondence between John Reed and William H. Witte with background about the scrapbooks (Box 1).

Correspondence, photographs, clippings, scrapbooks, maps, newspapers, and other printed materials of the family of Joseph W. Summers, Morgantown. Included are deeds for Summer land in Preston County, 1831-1903; genealogy notes complied by Mr. Summers on the Barker, Buzzard, Harris, Hoffman (Huffman), Holland, Knapp, Swisher, and Tarleton lines of the Summers family in West Virginia; obituary notices and local history clippings from the Morgantown Post, ca.1930-1956; and several scrapbooks of clippings of verse and political and historical affairs, ca. 1913-1956.

The personal papers of Julia W. Oxrieder include materials related to Williamsburg, Virginia, documents of interest she collected related to her many interests, and personal material about her life and work in Williamsburg. Many items are copies of biographies, newspaper articles, and ephemera documenting local history including folklore, education, Williamsburg people and organizations, African Americans, and other topics.
