This collection consists of three scrapbooks with contents compiled by Mary MacMillan and her son Charles MacMillan. The first contains scenes from a trip to Ireland, containing Mary MacMillan's pencil sketches of scenes and prints of Ireland mostly by James Howard Burgess. The second contains poetry and calligraphy from Mary MacMillan and others as well as collections of dried and pressed marine marine algae or seaweed, watercolors sketches and cartoons. The third consists of mica paintings made in India for British tourists, and were most likely collected by Mary's son Charles.

This collection includes poems and prose (manuscript and printed copies); A May Night Masque, written in 1872 for Ann Smith Academy; notebooks and scrapbooks. There is a Greek New Testament given to Preston by her father, George Junkin, and a glass plate negative of George Junkin's portrait. Additionally, Preston's scrapbooks include one volume of her printed poems and stories and one volume of her sketches and manuscript poems. There is also a broadside, and several sketches by her sister, Eleanor Junkin.

Diaries, letters, and photos of Ordway family members Grace Lincoln Shannon (born 1865, also Grace Shannoon Ordway) and Maria Victoria Diaz (1950-2012).

This collection contains the papers of the Quisenberry family from 1922-1963 including ephemera collected during their travels, photographs, school papers, items about their religious faith, as well as Lexington, Rockbridge County, Rockingham, and Shenandoah County, VA.

The account and barter book contains handwriting samples and aphorisms. Account notations are in British currency. Rum and molasses are the predominant products listed. It also includes a poem on the American Revolutionary War effort of New Hampshire's soldiers by William Proctor. The poem includes a mention of General George Washington.

This collection consists of a poetry notebook compiled by William E. Arnold during the period between 1849 and 1864. The bulk of the entries date from the years in which he was a VMI cadet (1849-1853). Such notebooks were popular among VMI cadets of the mid-19th century and typically contain both original and copied verse. This notebook contains approximately 50 poems by Arnold, other cadets, various 19th century poets, and anonymous authors. Cadet poetry includes "The Regulations" by Charles Denby (VMI Class of 1850) and "The Six Plebes on Leaving for Richmond" by Thomas O. Benton (VMI Class of 1850). A few poems were composed by Arnold during the Civil War. The notebook also includes clippings, puzzles, and riddles.

The Oliver M. Rutledge papers consist primarily of the incoming and outgoing correspondence of VMI cadet Oliver M. Rutledge (dated 1879 to 1882). Included are letters received from his parents, siblings, and friends. A few letters written by Rutledge contain references to cadet life in the 1880s. The letter dated May 14, 1882 to his mother describes the mineral springs resort at Dagger's Springs, Virginia. Additional items include an 1882 VMI graduation invitation and a poem dedicated to the Class of 1882.
