Dr. Lorilla Frances Bullard Tower's collection includes photographs of the West Virginia Hospital for the Insane, circa 1900, and correspondence regarding her hiring and retention. The collection also includes documents regarding the treatment of the mentally ill at the time. The photographs, in boxes 1 and 2, are of the interior and exterior of the building and grounds as well as staff and patients, some individual and some groups.

The materials were collected by Barbara Flewellyn for a book titled A Special Place, St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, Clarksburg, West Virginia, 1905-1969. Most of the documents are facsimiles of histories, photographs, and lists of graduates. Also in the collection are alumni news and newsletters (1986-2020). Original source materials include Flewellyn's diploma, grade cards, and other memorabilia. Other artifacts include a wool nurse's coat (circa 1956) and a nurse's cap (circa 1949), both donated by alumni.
