Lucy Lee Lancaster Papers 44 Cubic Feet 44 boxes

Lancaster, Lucy Lee, 1905-1989
Lucy Lee Lancaster was born in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1905 and lived there until she died in 1989. She was one of the first women admitted to Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (popularly known as VPI), and after graduating in 1925, she went on to earn her MLS from Columbia University Library School. She worked at the VPI library for the rest of her career. The Lancaster papers contain biographical materials, family papers, genealogy research, correspondence with family, friends, and business contacts, membership materials from local organizations, and travel memorabilia from her numerous national and international trips.

The Lyric Theatre Collection contains lobby cards, event programs, film flyers, and several film-related newsletters, dating from 1922 to 2006. The majority of the collection consists of lobby cards (1936-1979) and film flyers (undated, but mostly c.1920s-1950s).

The Mary Fessler Papers span the years ca. 1940-2001, with the bulk of the material dating from 1968-1984. The collection includes personal papers and materials related to the Montgomery County League of Women Voters, Montgomery County Democratic Committee, Ninth-District Democratic Committee, Montgomery County Board of Supervisors, and Blacksburg Library Building Committee.
