Diaries written by Rogers for the years 1870-1871, 1874, 1876-1878, 1890-1902 which describe weather conditions, farm operations, his ministerial duties, and purchases for the farm and household. Ordained to preach by the Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1859, he served this as well as fourteen other churches in Preston, West Virginia, and adjoining counties. Included is a book of sermons with notes on biblical passages.

Account book of Matthew Wallace, a Mill Point, West Virginia, physician, containing notes, a list of medical books, and the medical account of George B. Moffett; sentiment book of Anna McNeel Wallace, 1883-1886; and typescript copies of a sermon and journals, 1786-1788, of John Smith, a Methodist circuit rider, pertaining to his labors on the Greenbrier, Redstone, and Holston circuits.

Diary of a Methodist Protestant Church itinerant minister in northwestern Virginia. The volume contains daily entries from 24 September 1859, through 6 February 1860. Also listed are the churches in his charge to 1868, including Laurel Lick, Harmony, Bethel, Harrisville circuit, Fairview, Sanko, and Middlebourne. Entries from 23 January to February 1860, are made in Washington County, Pennsylvania. On 2 September 1858, McCormick was received into the Western Virginia Conference and was assigned in turn to the Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Lewis, Harrisville, and Tyler circuits.

Records of marriages, 1816-1867, performed by the Reverend William Welch, Mineral County, West Virginia; Civil War typescripts, including "Capture of Generals Kelly and Crook," by Capt. Jesse C. McNeill, and "Capture of a Railroad Train," by John T. Peerce. There are scrapbooks on South Branch Valley history, and account books for grain, carding, and other activities in Morgantown. There are also clippings and photographs.

Journal of John Smith, Methodist circuit rider, concerning his work on the Greenbrier Circuit in West Virginia, 1787 and 1788; the Redstone Circuit in western Pennsylvania and western Virginia, 1786-1787; and the Holston Circuit in 1787. Smith preached Calvinist doctrines of unconditional election, reprobation, and perseverance. There is a typescript, "Greenbrier Circuit - Its First Year; 1787-1788," by the Reverend Lawrence Sherwood, based on the Smith journal.

Letters, legal and land papers, tax receipts, and other papers of Benjamin, John F.C.L., Benjamin F.M.V. and J.A.J. Lightburn in Lewis County. Included are a pocket account book of the Lightburn Mill, 1836-1855; 32 items bearing on General J.A.J. Lightburn's Civil War activities, including correspondence, orders, and reports (including battle reports in connection with the Atlanta campaign, 3 items, June-July, 1864); correspondence between J.A.J. Lightburn and Soule & Co., relative to pension claims; agricultural implement advertisements, 1890; notebooks of sermon outlines written by General Lightburn who was ordained a Baptist minister in 1867; and newspaper clippings bearing on the Lightburn family.

Records for the years 1835-1857, include bonds of ministers, tavern operators, ordinaries, ferries, and county officials; estate settlements; records pertaining to road, bridge, and public building; records of the overseer of the poor; school commissioners' and surveyors' appointments; and lists of county officials. Records for 1863-1874 include county supervisors' records; records of the Fairmont and Wheeling Turnpike; and muster certificates and reenlistment and bounty lists for the First, Second, Sixth, Seventh, Tenth, Fifteenth, Seventeenth, and Eighteenth West Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiments, the First, Third, Fifth, Sixth West Virginia Cavalry, the First Light Artillery Regiment, and the Forty-fifth Regiment, United States Colored Troops. Papers for 1867-1907 include justice of the peace records, United States Admiralty Court records, and road surveyors' statements.

Correspondence, business records, legal papers, and miscellaneous papers of the Haldeman, Baldwin, and Smith families of Monongalia and Preston counties in West Virginia and of Greene, Fayette, and Washington counties in Pennsylvania. The major portion of the collection relates to the business dealings of the Rev. T.A. Haldeman, who built and repaired carriages, wagons, and buggies at a shop in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and also dealt in fruits and vegetables. There is genealogical material on the Haldeman family, information about the Drummond Chapel Sunday School (Morgantown, West Virginia), and the journal of the Rev. T.H. Trainer (1881-1899), who served Drummond Chapel, Rock Forge, Woodland, Mellon, and other Monongalia County churches.
