Letter copy book, 1828-1834, consisting of letters to the owners of the ship Alciop written by Captain Ambrose H. Smith. The letters pertain to freight (fish, salt, cotton, tobacco, etc.), finances, weather, conditions on board the ship, receipts, and other information. The letters were written while Captain White was at sea or at ports such as Liverpool, England, Cadiz, Spain, New Orleans, Louisiana, Richmond, Virginia, and Hampton Roads, Virginia. The book also includes three copies of instructions to Captain White, three memorandums of agreements, eight invoices, two accounts of sale, and one freight list.

Edward C. Thurston Journal

Journal, 1827-1831 of Edward Thurston, a mason working in Fall River Massachusetts. The journal is made up almost entirely of financial records, showing how much he paid workers and various supply orders. Also included in the Journal are Journal entries chronologically earlier show only a few other employees being paid, while some of the later entries there are between 10 to 15 workers. Edward Thurston work with many of the major factories and citizens of Fall River at the time, including the Pocasset Manufacturing Company, Fall River Company, Richard Borden and several others. The Pocasset Manufacturing Company was the mill that started the Great Fall River fire of 1928. Related material of Edward Thurston can be found through Mss. Acc. 2013.049

Martin Brimmer Account Ledger

Contains one ledger book of accounts kept by Martin Brimmer, a Boston merchant and apothecary. Listed in the account are names of loyalists later proscribed and banished. Some of the names listed in the ledger include Dr. Benjamin Church, Dr. William Paine, Dr. Charles Russel, Dr. Sylvester Gardiner, and Dr. John Jeffries. There are 89 pages filled with Brimmer's accounts, but the ledger also contains 24 pages of guest names for an unknown New York establishment in 1940.

Contains an account book kept by Simon Elliott, Sr. and his son, Simon Elliott, Jr. for sales of snuff and tobacco from their store on 51 State Street in Boston, Massachusetts. The first page includes the details of the partnership between Simon Elliott, Sr. and his son. The major portion of the journal, pages 1-76, records sales of snuff and tobacco, and includes both individuals, such as a female customer, Joanna Winslow, and firms such as Andrew Ritchie & Son. The remaining section of the volume, pages 77-91, consists of cash settlements and personal accounts of the Elliotts. The rest of the volume contains blank pages.
