Patrick County (Va.) Court Records, 1820-1858. The collection contains various documents removed from Patrick County court records, as follows: a letter from Jacob Johnston, in McMinnville, Tennessee, to Thomas Whitlock asking him to take care of his affairs in Patrick County and be a guardian to his son, 1820; a letter from Russell Hicks of Independence, Missouri, to Molley Adams, concerning a transaction involving Adams' half brother William Price, 1832, and used as an exhibit in the chancery case Adams vs. Penn; an answer from the chancery cause Administrator of William Moore vs. Williamson Smith and wife, 1839; a notice from the chancery cause James Dalton vs. Executors of James M. Read, 1842; a notice to take depositions in the Patrick County Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery case Isaac N. Haynes vs. John Stone, etc., 1846; an order from the chancery cause Leander Hughes, etc. vs. John Hughes, etc., 1850; a judgment, Barnett M. Price vs. Thomas Dehart and wife, etc., 1851; a letter from E.B. Turner to B.J. Campbell pertaining to the settlement of the estate of Tennisan (?), 1850; a notice pertaining to the settlement of the estate of Jesse P. Dehart, 1851; an order from the chancery cause Herbert Shelton vs. Milton R. Dodson, 1851; a letter, 1853, and an answer from the chancery cause Benjamin Frashur vs. Robert Delop, 1854; a letter from S. Beard to M.B. Frasier, 1856; and a wrapper from a deposition from the suit Tuggle and others vs. N.P. Adams, 1855.

Patrick County (Va.) Bill of Sale, 1794. Documents the sale of seven slaves, Sall, Dick, Daphney and her three children, Ruth, Edy, and James; and Frank; along with two horses, twenty hogs, and eight sheep. John Abbington sold the property to Bowles Abbington, John Abbington, Jr., Henry Abbington, and Lucy Abbington for one hundred sixty pounds.

Patrick County (Va.) Deed, 1793. Consists of an indenture documenting the sale of two heads of horses, one cow, and all the household and kitchen furniture belonging to Benjamin Philpott of Patrick County to George Hairston of Henry County for five shillings. The sale was made to satisfy Philpott's debt to Hairston of thirty two pounds and one shilling.

Patrick County (Va.) Deed, 1803. Consists of deed of conveying 100 acres of land along the Gobling Town and Puppy creeks from Charles Foster to John Foster for five shillings.

Patrick County (Va.) Deed, 1808. Consists of a deed conveying 120 acres of land along the waters of the North Mayo from William Banks, Sr. to William Banks, Jr. for 484 dollars.

Patrick County (Va.) Deed, 1811. Consists of deed conveying 100 acres of land along the Gobling Town and Puppy creeks from Charles Foster to John Foster for five shillings.

The Patrick County (Va.) Election Records, 1902-1956, consists of 11 volumes of rolls and lists of voters registered.

Patrick County (Va.) Inventory and Appraisement of William Jones, 1819. Consists of an inventory and appraisement of the estate of William Jones, including six slaves. The estate was appraised at $4,641.68.

Marriage Register, 1791-1854, is essentially divided into two sections. The first section covering pages 1-194, 1791-1854, records the date of the marriage bond, the names of both parties, the names of the parents or guardians present and the names of the security or witnesses in attendance. Of special note on page 20, there is an entry for a slave marriage.
