Halifax County (Va.) Commonwealth Cause, Commonwealth vs. Jack [Slave], April 1802. Consists of an indictment and two warrants for the arrest of Jack, a slave accused of preparing poisons.

Deed books, 1761-1770, of Halifax County Court. The deed books record the name of the grantor and grantee, the residence of both individuals and the description of property being sold or transferred. Deed book, No. 3, 1761-1762 has a poll list related to a House of Burgess election. Deed books, Nos. 3 and 5 have indexes which contains the first and last names of both parties. It is arranged alphabetically from A-Z. Deed books, Nos. 6 and 7 do not have indexes.

Halifax County (Va.) Deed of Trust, Philemon B. Carter and Wife to A. G. Walters, is dated 17 October 1860. In the deed, Carter grants A. G. Walters 450 acres lying in Halifax County in order to secure payments for his various debts. Also granted in the deed were Carter's livestock and one half of another tract containing 34 acres lying on Toby Creek upon which was situated a water grist mill and a circular saw mill.

Consists of petitions from the debt cases Matthew Marable vs. Patrick Bradie, n.d., William Astin vs. Abraham Ardin, n.d., and Thomas Billings vs. Elizabeth Billings, 1764; a bill from the chancery case, Obadiah Smith vs. Solomon Sizemore, etc., 1800; and a land partition suit, John Roberts and Mary Roberts vs. Orphans of Matthew Sims, 1791.

Will books, 1753-1797, of Halifax County Court. The will books includes the name of testator, list of heirs and year the wills were proven in court and probate records such as inventories and appraisements.
