The M. Rupert Cutler Papers includes personal and professional correspondence, records of Cutler's participation in a variety of clubs, boards, and committees, documents pertaining to local Roanoke issues and events, speeches, articles, and other writings by Cutler, news clippings pertaining to Cutler's interests, photographs, audio cassettes, CDs, VHS cassettes, and awards and certificates. The collection provides a comprehensive history of the personal and professional activities of M. Rupert Cutler from 1981-2021, and also contains some records from 1962-1980. Most records from before 1977 are housed at the Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan. Records from his service in the Carter Administration, 1977-1981, are housed at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta.

This small collection contains primarily a series of photographs of Dr. Stuart McCorkle throughout his adult life, ranging from informal prints to professionally made portraits. In addition, the collection originally included copies of books authored by McCorkle and have since been transferred within the Special Collections department. Of great note is the typescript of his autobiography, which provides in great detail, insight into his life and opinion of political matters such as city planning, bureaucracy, and local government.

The Rick Boucher Papers, 1968-2017, document his career in the Virginia State Senate, 1975-1982, and in the United States Congress as the Representative of Virginia's 9th District, 1983-2011. The collection consists of press releases, Boucher's writings, mailers he distributed, information about his campaigns and elections, scripts of speeches he gave, news clippings about him and issues he worked on, correspondence, information about grants that he worked on, and audiovisual materials including photographs, VHS tapes, video reels, audio cassettes, DVDs, awards, and digital files. Materials primarily span from the beginning of his political career in 1975 to his retirement from Congress in 2011.
