Collection of legal papers chiefly of Wythe and Warwick counties, Virginia. Includes papers of George Blow, Jr.; letters, 1842-1853, concerning the legal practice of Peter F. Schlecker; resolutions, 1860 July 28, passed by the Board of Trade of Norfolk, Virginia; and deed, 1831, to land in Wythe County, Virginia from Joseph F. White to Elisha D. Payne. Some legal documents concern grain mills.

Original letters and documents pertaining to the history of early Virginia, particularly Williamsburg, and negative prints of pages containing accounts of Williamsburg found in 18th century gazeteers.

Invoices, receipts and related material for financial transactions during the nineteenth century, mostly in Virginia and on the East Coast. The collection is arranged alphabetically by the name attached to the document, with usually one document per name. Many items do not have locations, but most are in Virginia. These items give an overview of the types of goods purchased and the price of these purchases during the nineteenth century.

Acc. 1980.128 contains papers of and relating to James Blair, first president of the College of William and Mary. The collection contains two original manuscripts: a funeral bill by Blair dated 1701, and a sermon erroneously attributed to Blair dated 1747. The bulk of the collection consists of copies collected for research purposes, mostly in 1940-1941. Includes biographical material; extracts and copies from official records; copies of correspondence; sermons; notes on paintings of Blair and his wife owned by the College of William and Mary; notes on their graves.

This addition to RG 2/1, Office of the President/Reports, contains four annual reports on Free Speech in accordance with § 23.1-401.1(D) of the Code of Virginia. These reports document the University of Virginia's efforts to maintain the constitutional principles of free expression and the open exchange of ideas. These reports include legal cases brought against the University regarding free speech violations (see reports 2018 and 2019), links to the University's policies and regulations, and resources regarding free speech.
