Ledger (MsV Ad82 ovesize) time book, 1851-1866, and ledger (MsV Ad83), 1865-1866, of the commissary [company store] of D. & H. Forrer, Shenandoah Iron Works, Page County, Virginia. The latter volume lists foodstuffs and goods given out to workers which they often paid for by work. Includes accounts with free Black persons.

Ledgers, 1854-1862, kept in Robertson, Madison County, Va. by blacksmith Smith F. Blankenbeker.

Three account books of Thaddeus S. Harris, a free Black citizen of Abingdon, Virginia, dated 1855-1861, 1861-1866 and 1868. Goods purchased include items such as tobacco, sardines, cheese, sugar, candy, hair trims and shaves.

This collection consists of two ledgers kept by Thomas K. McCutchans, a blacksmith in Rockbridge, VA. The first ledger, from 1852-1867, lists the names of people McCutchans has accounts with and mostly deals with the purchases of household goods. Most of the pages are either blank or have been ripped out of the ledger. The second ledger, from 1866-1888, contains an index to all the accounts in the ledger, and most of the accounts are for household goods but there are some for spokes, harnesses, and welding shoes. Only one third of the ledger is completed with a few accounts in the back of the ledger.

The Timberneck Farm Ledgers collection contains 11 ledgers including records of estate in relation to Timberneck Farm in Gloucester, Virginia as well as doctor's ledgers. The collection also includes school notes, essays and a Gloucester Charity School ledger.

Account books, 1845-1901, of the West family, of Buckingham county, Va. Include memorandum books, account books (daybooks, ledgers, and journals) of several stores: Buckingham Female Collegiate Institute Store, Gravel Hill, Va.; West & Agee (John S. West and William C. Agee), Buckingham Court House, Va.; J. E. West and J. E. West (John Edmund West) & Bros., Dillwyn, Va. The collection includes account books of the Gravel Hill Post Office (John S. West and Mattie J. West).

Ledger, 1857-1872, of William J. Pendleton, physician, at Cuckoo, Louisa County, Va. Also includes accounts of a merchant, farms and labor accounts, and memoranda of a school operated by the Pendleton family.

Based on information gathered by Special Collections staff in 2011, there appear to be three possible creators of the ledger: William Tandy Burrus (1766 or 1776-1831), WTB (?-prior to 1836?), or William Stevens (1773-1843).
